Coastal Clean Up

Today Zachary had an early game against Bonita. Both teams were undefeated. Unfortunately, the Broncos lost 27-22; however, the coach is going to contest the final score. Each player has to have 8 plays in the game. There were 2 players on the Bonita team who did not play all 8 plays. According to the rules, Bonita will have to forfeit the game.
PreGame huddle for the defensive team.

After the game, Zachary and I headed to Discovery Park to participate in the Coastal Clean up with Cub Scouts. The boys found a large bush that had lots of "treasures" inside. They had fun finding strange items.

A Chula Vista Police Officer stopped by the park to see what was going on and talked with our group for a while.
We made a stop at Toys R Us for a free Lego build...Cogsworth, the clock from Beauty and the Beast. Next weekend it's the candle.
While Zachary and I were at football, Jason and Kailani headed up to La Jolla for the grand opening of a new Lego Store. They wanted to be one of the first 400 in line to get a free mini Lego Store set.
I had to work the snack bar for the rest of the day, so Jason took the kids back to the Lego Store and they helped build a Lego mural of Beauty and the Beast that will be on display at Disneyland.

Apex Fun Run

Today was the annual Apex Fun Run at school. The kids did a great job. I was teaching 2nd grade today, so I was able to see the 2nd graders participate in the run. Fortunately, it was recess time during the 5th grade run time and I was able to see Kailani for a few minutes.
Zachary ran a total of 46 laps and Kailani ran 41.

Youth Football Night

Last night was youth football night at Otay Ranch High School. Each year the high school recognizes all of the Broncos football players and cheerleaders because many of them will play for the high school in the future. The players get to run out on the field at half time. Unfortunately we had to skip Cub Scouts to attend the game, but we gave Zachary the choice and he wanted to be at the game.

At the end of the night, we always get the entire Broncos organization (players, coaches, board members) together for one big photo.

Zachary had a game against the Balboa Raiders this morning. The did great! The final score was posted as 30-0, but I think it was more because they scored at least 6 touchdowns. The scoreboard was not working, so I don't know for sure. Zachary was very excited because he caught the ball for an interception. Although they can't run with the ball in flag, he was able to get the ball back for his team.

Disneyland Half Marathon

Today Becky and I ran the Disneyland half marathon. I planned to take my time and run slow, but I was doing well and was on track to break my personal record, so I pushed it at the end. Two weeks ago when I ran the AFC half, I shut down at mile 10 and had a hard time with the last 3 miles. Today, there were a lot of people in the crowd cheering the runners on. One lady had a sign somewhere toward the beginning that said, "It's your mind, not your body that decides if today is a PR or just another race." That stuck with me the whole race. And...the same lady was holding her sign at mile 10 when I needed it the most. I pushed through and  was able to pull off a personal record of 2:29:42. My best time was 2:30, so I didn't beat it my much, but I did it! And...I stopped several times throughout the race for photos.
Since I completed the 10K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday, I earned a third medal for completing the Dumbo Double Dare challenge. I love Disney races!

We ran through Angel Stadium.

Disneyland 10K

Last night Becky and I headed up to Disneyland for the half marathon weekend. Originally, we were going to make this weekend a family vacation. We decided against it because with the holiday weekend and the race, the parks would be very busy. We went to the expo to pick up our race packets, walked around Downtown Disney, and had dinner at ESPN Zone.
This morning we ran the 10K. We met up with a few of the Run Away girls. It was challenging to start because of all of the walkers. Once I got through the walkers, I was able to make pretty good time. I finished in 1:08.

After the race, we went to see a movie. We were the only ones in the theater.

We walked around Downtown Disney a little more. We finished off the night with dinner at Bubba Gump.

Park View Autographs

Today Park View Little League had a welcome home celebration for the team as they arrived home from Williamsport. The kids each picked a hat and had each of the coaches and team members autograph them.
