Today we spent the day at Legoland. Kailani wanted to go for her birthday and we were so busy that we didn't have the chance to go until today. We visited the brand new Lego Chima water park. I wish I had taken pictures, but didn't have my camera on me. The kids loved playing in the water. We had to drag them out so we would have time to see the rest of the park.
We ran into the Lego Friends. Kailani was excited to have her picture taken with them.
We were able to see the actual set for The Lego Movie. Kailani let me take some pictures, but Zachary didn't want to pose.
We ended up getting passes. We haven't had passes in such a long time, so we look forward to going back often.

SDSU Game
This morning Kailani and I went for a run. I signed up for the Aloha 5K run and expected to run myself. One of the cheerleaders will be running with her mom, so of course Kailani wants to do it now. We went for a practice run so she's prepared for the race next Sunday.
This afternoon Kailani was supposed to perform at half time at the SDSU football game. None of the other girls from our cheer squads were there, so she didn't want to go out onto the field and perform. We decided to leave after half time to grab some dinner on the way home.
As of today, I will officially be training for a 1/2 marathon! I signed up for the Disneyland Pixie Dust Challenge, which includes a 10K on one day and a 1/2 marathon the next day. I am up for the challenge! It's not until May 2015, so I have plenty of time to train. The race was almost sold out so I had to jump on it today and sign up. We will probably make a vacation out of the race and spend the weekend at Disneyland. http://www.rundisney.com/tinker-bell-half-marathon/

Enjoying a Shake!
The kids have been asking to go to Stacked, and we finally made it there today. Kailani enjoyed her mint shake for dessert.

Game 1
Today was the official start of the Broncos season with both kids' teams playing game one. Zachary's team played Eastlake and won 33-0! They actually had to stop the game early because of the "mercy rule." Our boys scored too many points. Towards the end, the coach was trying different things, having the boys pass the ball...but they caught it and scored.
Kailani's team played the other Broncos JPW team and won 19-0! It was actually a good game, but JPW Blue dominated the second half.
We had such a long day...arriving at the field at 7:30am and leaving just around 6pm. I guess this is the football/cheer life!

Action Hero Event
Tonight we had dinner at Chick-fil-A. They had a special Action Hero event with Iron Man, Captain America, and Wonder Woman.
Here is Kailani showing off her "share a Coke" that she received from Nana and Grandpa today. I couldn't get Zachary to pose for a picture.
I made it through teaching my first master's class with Walden University. Grades were due today and they are submitted! I enjoyed the 8-week coaching and mentoring course. I only had 6 students, so it was a nice way to ease my way into teaching. I will start me next class on September 2 with 18 students in the intro to leadership class. This will be a much different experience.

Preseason
Today was the first of many long days at the field! It started off at 7:30am. Zachary had to be there early with his team, and I had to be there to help set up the snack bar (board members have to work in the snack bar 4 hours each Saturday there is a home game). At 9:00 I was set free to watch Zachary's game. The boys did great! They beat Temecula 32-0. The coaches are going to treat the boys to a pizza party on Tuesday. After Zachary's game, I headed back to the snack bar to finish out my last few hours. Then, we went to lunch to celebrate. Unfortunately, Kailani's football team did not have a game today. The regular season starts next Saturday.
The NFL is sponsoring youth football this year, so they provide jerseys, flags, etc. for the flag football teams. It only made sense for us to partner up with the Denver Broncos. We will wear this jersey for special events, but will keep our regular Otay Ranch Broncos jerseys for games.
Unfortunately, we had to make a trip to urgent care today because Zachary wasn't feeling well. We left the welcome back school picnic early last night because he was feeling sick. It turns out that he has strep throat:( I hope he feels better soon!

Tonight during practice, Zachary's team played a scrimmage against the other flag team in our organization. It was flag blue versus flag white!

SDSU Cheer Camp
Today Kailani participated in the SDSU cheer camp. She learned a lot of stunts that she practiced with the mitey mite girls (most of our girls didn't go). At the end of the day, the girls learned a routine that they will perform with the SDSU cheerleaders at the game on August 30. Unfortunately Kailani wasn't paying attention very much when the girls taught the routine. Luckily I recorded it so when she's ready, we'll go through it so she's ready for the game.
Tonight we finally got to see Planes - Fire and Rescue. It was a short, but cute movie. We love going to movies a the FREE theaters on base even if you have to wait a few weeks to see it.

Celebrating an end to Conditioning
Today was the last day of the 2 mandatory weeks of conditioning before the girls can start regular cheer practices. The coaches all went in on a pizza party for the girls to celebrate!

Coach Daddy
Today Zachary had football practice, but Kailani did not have cheer. This gave me the chance to watch him practice:) Jason is enjoying his time as a coach!
While Zachary practiced, Kailani played.

Fun times
Koa loves to explore and he especially loves to explore Legos. I wonder why?!
Zachary started his online math program this week and he loves it. He gets to do homework just like his big sister.

Sleepover with the Sea Turtles
Friday night Kailani and I stayed overnight at SeaWorld to sleep with the sea turtles. Kailani's Brownie troop decided to use some of the money from cookie sales last year to participate in a sleepover at SeaWorld. I went along as a chaperone.
We arrived at SeaWorld around 6pm last night. We ate dinner and participated in lots of fun activities (soap/turtle craft, turtle dress up, fed sting rays, etc.) We watched the evening Shamu show and the fireworks. They kept us busy until "lights out" at 11:20pm...and then a wake-up call at 6am! There were close to 60 Girl Scouts there for the sleepover with other troops that were also there.
Zachary and Jason had fun together while the girls were gone. Zachary picked out his cleats for football and built a pencil holder at Home Depot this morning. I think this was the first time I was away from Zachary overnight. Glad we're all together again.

All 11 girls in the troop went along, with 3 parent chaperones.
Kailani with 2 of her BFFs from school (Karlie-R and Delaney-L).
Kailani with Mikaela, fellow cheerleader.
Kailani feeding the rays. She was a little scared, but she did it.
The girls learned about the parts of a turtle by watching Ashley dress up.
We all slept in sleeping bags on the floor right in front of the sea turtle tank.
This morning we had breakfast, fed the sea lions,
and then got to ride the new Manta roller coaster before the park opened
to the public. After that, we were able to spend the day inside
SeaWorld. Our time there quickly ended around lunchtime with a rare
August downpour. We were drenched! We decided to leave SeaWorld and take

Spirit Day
Every Friday is spirit day at Heritage. If it's not a special spirit day like crazy hair day or something similar, it's a day to wear a Heritage shirt.
We got to school a little earlier today so the kids could eat breakfast. Next week when I go back to work (Boo!), they will be getting to school early every day.
