Trick or Treat!

Today Kailani had her Halloween parade at school. It is red ribbon week, so they were supposed to wear their costumes to say "boo" to drugs.

Tonight we went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood with my friend Nicole and her kids Madison and Alexander. I didn't get many pictures:(

When it rains, it pours...

Things have been a little hectic here, to say the least...

Last week the kids were both sick for a few days, so although Jason was here, I had to take a few days off work to stay home with them. Luckily, they only had a fever for a few days and then they were as good as new.

Although I had already missed several days of work this week, I stayed home on Friday to go to Zachary's Halloween parade and party at school. I didn't want to miss it. That afternoon, my car informed me that I needed to turn off the AC because the engine was too hot. The temperature of the car was as high as it could get. We checked under the hood and noticed that there was no coolant. We quickly headed to AutoZone and then home. After adding coolant several times, we came to the conclusion that there must be a leak. I made an appointment to have it looked at on Friday. I recently had my air conditioning fixed (3 days and $400 later), so I was thinking this had something to do with the new problems.

On Thursday I started to have a horrible pain in my abdomen. I thought maybe I just slept wrong, but as the weekend went on, the pain continued and I started to worry. We had a busy weekend, so the first opportunity I  had to get it checked out was 10:30pm on Saturday. Jason had duty on Sunday and was leaving on Monday, so I figured it was my only chance. At that time of night, the only place to go was the ER. I ended up spending 5 hours in the ER and came home with no answers. They did blood tests, an ultrasound, a chest x-ray, and an EKG. The only thing that came up abnormal was that my liver was enlarged. I was sent home at 3:30am with Tylenol and told to follow up with my doctor. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep that night. I had to be up at 6:30am for Kailani's cheer competition.

I was still in pain on Monday, so I stayed home from work and made an appointment with my doctor. My doctor wasn't available so I had to see another doctor in the office. After a bunch of questions, the doctor suggested that I had a strained muscle. I guess it's good to know it's not something serious, but I still feel like something else is going on. Apparently an enlarged liver could be genetic, so that could have nothing to do with the pain I am having. I need to return to the doctor if the pain doesn't go away by the end of the week.

I finally decided that it was time to go back to work today since I hadn't been there in a while. When I got in the car, I had a warning that my left front tire pressure was 24, which is really low. After dropping the kids off, I stopped to fill it with air and went straight to the dealer. Thank goodness for Becky...she picked me up and took me to base for Jason's car (since he's not here). When I got the call from the dealer, I found out that not only is there a coolant leak, but there is also an engine oil leak and a nail in my tire. He suggested replacing 3 of my tires (1 had a nail in it recently and was replaced). So now, 4 more days and $800 later, I should have my car back as good as new.

When it rains, it pours...I don't think I can take any more!

Otay Ranch Broncos take 3rd Place!

This morning we got up bright and early for Kailani's cheer competition. The girls did awesome and they won 3rd place! After they performed, some of the boys presented them with candy leis and roses. The coaches presented them with Build-a-Bears.

Harley-Ween Festival

This morning Kailani had a dress rehearsal for her cheer competition. After that, we rushed right out to the USO Harley-Ween Festival. The kids quickly changed into their costumes and went trick-or-treating throughout the Harley Davidson store. Zachary is obsessed with motor cycles right now, so he was in heaven. The problem is, they don't sell a kid-sized Harley! He wants a motor cycle, helmet, and gloves:)

 After a short break to catch our breath, we headed off to Kailani's game. Tonight was the first playoff game for the boys. They won the game 20-0. This means our cheer season continues. Luckily we'll only be practicing 1 day per week throughout the playoffs.

Getting into the Spirit

Today I took the day off to see Zachary's Halloween parade at school. I was worried about taking another day off since I was off Tuesday and Wednesday with two sick kids, but I am glad I did. I hate missing out on so much with the kids because of work, so I like to take advantage of the times I can be there.

 

This evening we went to a Halloween party at the YMCA. There were different booths set up with game and the kids enjoyed playing every single game. They got small prizes at each booth, but no candy:)

Last Game...or is it?

Today was supposed to be Kailani's last football game...but the boys made the playoffs. There will be another game next Saturday. This will be such a busy week for her! We love it, but will be happy when it ends.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: Practice (2 hours each night)
Saturday: Playoff game and extra practice
Sunday: Competition

Tonight the Broncos cheered with the Otay Ranch High School cheerleaders at their homecoming game!

Halloween Birthday Party

This afternoon Kailani had a birthday party for a little girl from school. The party was Halloween-themed so she went in her costume. There were lots of fun Halloween activities. Kailani had such a blast, she didn't want to leave. Unfortunately, I now have to wash her costume before she wears it again.

Playing Catch Up

Today the only thing on the schedule was Zachary's t-ball game and he didn't want to go. Last week he didn't make it through the whole game and today he just wasn't having it. He didn't even want to put his uniform on. I don't want to force him because then he won't play anyway. I guess he may be too young for this. I'll try once more next weekend and then I'll give up.
Since we didn't go anywhere, we were playing catch up on all things that have been piling up over the last few months. I can't remember the last time I've been finished with laundry (washed, folded, and put away) before 11pm on a Sunday night. The playroom is now reorganized, allowing more space for the kids to play. Kailani's patches and pins from our road trip this summer are now in place. And, the Lowe's Build and Grown patches are on the kids' aprons. I need to schedule a day like this at least once a month to get caught up on things!

Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

For the month of October, the cheerleaders wear a pink bow to support breast cancer awareness. Kailani had her 7th game of the season today and the boys won 37-6. Unfortunately, they lost last week. Their record is now 6 and 1. Only one more game to go!

Kids Yoga

Today we checked out the kids yoga class at the YMCA. I had planned on working out while Kailani attended the class, but she wanted me to stay for the first class. She had a ton of fun trying out all of the different yoga poses. I think it will be a regular activity for her on Fridays:)

Father-Daughter Day

Kailani and Jason both had the day off today so they made it a father-daughter day. They spent the day at Legoland!

First 5K

Today we did the New Day 5K; the annual Girl Scout run. Last year we did the one mile, which we planned on doing today. I couldn't figure out how to get to the start of the race, so we didn't make it in time for the one mile. So...we did the 5K (3 miles). Kailani was so excited to do her first 5K. After about half way, she kept saying she didn't want to do the whole 3 miles. When we were on our last mile, I told her we were almost to the end and she was very relieved. She didn't realize the path was measured out to 3 miles. She thought we had to do the whole path 3 times. She finished in about 1 hour and 7 minutes...just about the last one, but she did it!

Bates Nut Farm

After the Shamu and You Walk, we met up with some friends at Bates Nut Farm. We got to go on a hayride, go through a hay maze, see animals, shop for crafts, and pick a pumpkin.

Shamu and You

Today Kailani played hooky from cheer to participate in the Shamu and You Family Walk at SeaWorld. The funds raised from the walk support Rady Children's Hospital. We thought Zachary might walk, but he insisted on riding in the stroller; must be nice!
They got to see lots of animals up close along the way, including: a sloth, macaws, dogs, a cat, a pig, a porcupine, and a penguin. At the end of the walk there were lots of booths set up giving away free food and goodies. The kids got to help paint a mural at the Dunn Edwards booth. I think that was their favorite part.
