Fairy tea party

Yesterday we went to the Navy base park for some fun with the meetup group. The kids made candy Easter necklaces. Kailani ate the big bunny off of hers right away.
When we got home, Daddy surprised Kailani with her very own tee-ball set. She's been playing with her Phillies set and she can't hit the ball on her own. Of course, Zachary got his own sports set too, with tee-ball, basketball, and football. I think Daddy's enjoying this!
In the afternoon, we headed to the Bonita Library for a fairy tea party. It was free to sign up and the girls had a wonderful time. They had snacks first. Then, they decorated a magic wand. To finish the party, the watched the new Tinkerbell movie. We ended up leaving shortly after the movie started. It's hard for little ones to sit that long.
Since it was Tuesday, we headed to Chick-fil-A for dinner. The kids made Easter egg necklaces and played in the play structure.
Today it's supposed to rain in the afternoon, so we're headed to Viejas. Jason and my dad are going to the Casino while the girls (and Zachary) walk around the Outlets.

Bathing beauties

We hung out at the beach today on base at Coronado. Kailani had a blast. This was the first time Zachary has been to the beach since he's been moving around. It was tough keeping him from eating sand. There was a park at the beach that we stopped at on the way back to the car. Zachary absolutely loved the swings.

Science festival and family time

Kailani went to see the neurologist on Tuesday morning. Since she's been doing so well, the doctor is starting to take her off her medication. She'll take 1/2 of a pill over the next two weeks and then she'll be off totally. Hopefully all goes well.
Nana and Pop Pop arrived on Wednesday night. Becky picked them up from the airport, but we didn't get to see them until Thursday night after work and school. They all came down and brought dinner. It was nice for them to see the kids after so long.
I picked the kids up early from school on Friday and we had lunch with Daddy. Then, we headed up to Becky's house for the kids to play and to have dinner. The kids played nicely together. Becky even had two extra kids...she's taking care of two kids while their mom is in the hospital having a baby. Her husband is on George's ship and she has no family here.
Saturday we had a family day. We headed to Petco Park for the San Diego Science Festival. Kailani had lots of fun. She extracted DNA from wheat, put water drops on a penny, planted a seed, made a beaded inchworm, and lots more. Saturday night, Daddy babysat so I could go to game night with the girls. We had a fun time planning events for our April Meetup calendar and playing games.

Carnival, cooking club, and Daddy's home

We had a really nice weekend, finally...everyone was feeling much better. Friday afternoon, Becky and the kids came over to help get the house ready for the cooking club meetup today. The girls enjoyed playing together.
Saturday morning we met up at Becky's house to take the girls to Makenzi's school carnival. The school had cute little games set up. The girls played games for a while...until we ran out of tickets. Kailani played a trivia game that I thought she wouldn't be able to do. She answered the first two questions right away and won a prize. She's a smart cookie! At the end of the carnival, the girls were able to use the dollars they got at each game to buy prizes.
After the carnival, we headed to Balboa Park for family science day. Makenzi has been participating in an after-school program and she was performing on stage at Balboa Park. I've never driven around so long to find a parking spot...literally 30-40 minutes. If Makenzi wasn't performing, I would've left.
There were different booths set up around the stage with activities for the kids to do. Kailani did a few before we sat down to watch Makenzi. It was a really hot day and the kids started to act up, so after Makenzi performed, we headed home.
This morning, Jason got home around 10am. Kailani was so excited to see him that she ran right out through the garage to say "hi." We had some people from the meetup group coming over today for the monthly cooking club. The theme was "vegetable garden" so everyone had to bring something that was made from ingredients that grow in a garden. Becky made vegetable lasagna and I made pasta salad. I had vegetable seeds and little pots for the kids to start their own vegetable gardens. The kids had fun playing together.. Everyone ended up leaving by 2 so we could spend some time with Jason.
We relaxed for the rest of the evening. Kailani passed out at 6pm and is out for the evening.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Sick kiddos

We've been confined to the house for the past few days. Zachary was doing much better. I took him to the walk-in clinic on Sunday just to be sure he was okay before taking him back to daycare on Monday. The doctor said he was doing very well.
On Monday morning, Kailani said she didn't feel good. It wasn't like her to say that, but her temperature was only 99, so I sent her to daycare. I gave her some Motrin to be on the safe side. Our school had a science field day planned at Balboa Park, and I had worked hard over the past few weeks planning the event. I got a call from KinderCare about 11:30...Kailani had a high fever and was shaking. I quickly rushed out of the park to pick her up. When I got to the daycare, she was doing fine. She was shivering because she had the chills.
I took her home and we've been stuck in the house since. She never did have a seizure, so I think she really may have outgrown them. We'll see the nuerologist on Tuesday and see if Kailani will be taken off her medicine. I took Kailani to the doctor today because she was still running a fever last night. The doctor said she just had a virus. She's been acting pretty normal today, so it's back to school tomorrow.
Zachary is doing all kinds of stuff. He can throw a ball and has a blast playing catch. He laughs so hard when you throw the ball back at him. He's started feeding Bruno from his high chair. He and Kailani have a lot of fun playing together.

Zachary home sick

We've been looking forward to a weekend without rain and we're stuck in the house anyway! We had planned on going to the "Kids in the Kitchen " expo today, but Zachary is sick.
Thursday afternoon when I picked the kids up from daycare, the director expressed concern because Zachary was coughing so much. She said he even felt a little warm, but didn't have a temperature. On Friday morning I went back and forth with myself about whether or not I should take him to school. I got completely ready and then, after Zachary threw up from coughing so much, I decided I should keep him home.
I took him to the doctor, and on top of all the coughing and wheezing, he has an ear infection. He's on an antibiotic twice a day and a nebulizer every 4 hours. The doctor said to return on Saturday if he wasn't any better. He's still wheezing a lot, so I think I'll take him to the walk-in clinic tomorrw just to make sure it hasn't developed into anything worse. I feel so badly for him. Kailani is doing just fine so far...thank goodness.

Magic Mile

Today Kailani ran the Magic Mile. This was her third year participating...she loves these races:) We met up with Becky and Nicole and all the kids. We also met up with some of the other military moms. This was the first race that I didn't have a stroller for Kailani. She did a great job running the one at Legoland in January so I thought she would be fine to walk the Magic Mile today. I carried her for the first few minutes, but then she walked the rest of the way. She actually ran across the finish line. I hope the photographers got a good picture. I pushed Zachary in the stroller. Before we know it, he'll be running in the races!
I'm still trying to sell all of our baby items that Zachary has grown out of. I have sold a few items, but I haven't had anyone interested lately. I reposted some items this afternoon and I am already meeting someone to sell the snap n go tomorrow. This afternoon I returned our hiking backpack/carrier to REI. We had bought the carrier over 2 years ago, but never used it...it was still in the box with all the tags and padding attached. I thought for sure it would be too long of a time period to return it to the store, but thought it was worth a shot. They ended up giving me a full refund. The guy said there was no time limit on returning items. I'm glad I took the chance on returning it because I've had it listed on Craigslist for a while and haven't had any interest. Hopefully the rest of the items will sell, otherwise they'll end up getting donated.
We had a relaxing afternoon and evening at home. Now I am enjoying listening to the rain:)

Zachary at 9 months

Zachary went for his 9 month check up this past Tuesday. The doctor was surprised at all her can do. When she walked into the room, he waved and said "hi." She couldn't believe he has 8 teeth already. Zachary is 24 pounds and 28 inches long. His height and head size are average for his age, but he is about 3 1/2 pounds heavier than an average 9 month old...he tops out the charts on weight. He's not eating during the night and he's eating normal, according to the doctor, so...maybe once he starts walking, he'll thin out:) He'll be walking soon I'm sure.
Tuesday night we went to Chick-fil-A for Dr. Suess story time. The girls had fun together, as always.
Last night, Kailani requested that we go to Subway for dinner after school on Friday. I am always amazed that she has such an opinion on things. I had a lot of running around to do today, but I picked the kids up just in time for dinner...and we went to Subway. We also stopped at Target to pick up Kailani's film. She had gotten a goodie bag at the USO Valentine party and there was a disposable camera inside. Of course she used all 24 pictures that day. Most of the pictures were not worth the paper they were printed on, but at least she had fun taking pictures. She'll have to start using her digital camera more.
My online class is going okay. I just can't believe how many things come up in everyone's life. I feel like I am dealing with so many problems rather than actually teaching. I wonder if it's always like this or if I just got a "doosy" of a class.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow, but we're headed to the Magic Mile. Kailani will run a mile in the kid-friendly race. She's excited, so hopefully the rain will hold off.
