Hills Schmills

Last week I decided to sign up for the La Jolla half marathon. I ran it last year as part of the triple crown and I swore I would never run it again. It is a beautiful run, but there is a huge hill about halfway through. I needed a long run as part of my full marathon training, so I figured I'd just run slow. As long as I stayed within the 3-hour time limit, I didn't really care about time. I ended up finishing in 2:39:29....Not my best, but not my worst.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We had a great day today. The kids went through their Easter baskets and found the eggs hidden in the house. We always go to Fugi for the hibachi-style meals, but today we decided to try Benihana today and it was delicious!

Willy Wonka Jr.

This week has been very busy for Zachary. The cast of Willy Wonka Jr. was putting the final touches on their production. I helped out a lot this week too, so it's been busy for all of us.
We went to opening night on Friday and took Sadie along with us. Then, we went back again for one of the two shows on Saturday. These kids were amazing. Zachary looked adorable as a Candy Kid and as a Squirrel. He's already talking about next year's musical.

Where's Waldo?

Today Kailani and I participated in a Where's Waldo scavenger hunt at SDSU put on by the Kappa Delta sorority. They held the event for Girl Scouts and they each earned a patch for participating. There were Kappa Delta sisters hidden all over campus dressed like Waldo. The Girl Scouts had to find them, do the activities, and place a sticker on their map. The activities were related to the location on campus and taught a lesson such as leadership. Kailani had a great time. She found 8 out of the 11 Waldos before we had to head back to the house.

This evening, the kids and I went on a sunset hike to the "Tiki House" with some friends. We had a fun time, but got a little lost on the way back!

 

The doggies are getting along well and Rebel is getting so big!

The American Championships

Today Kailani's cheer team had another cheer competition in Anaheim. The girls did awesome and had 0 deductions again. They ended up coming in 2nd place this time.

After the competition, we had dinner at Bubba Gump's before heading home.

Junior Carlsbad 5000

Today Kailani and Zachary ran the Junior Carlsbad 5000. They each ran 1 mile in their age-specific race. We expected them to do really well, but there were a lot of fast kids. A lot of the kids finished their mile in less than 6 minutes. Kailani came in shortly after 8:30 and Zachary came in just under 9:00. Those are still great times!
