Survived "Movie" Night

Yesterday morning Kailani woke up with a sore throat. I had a really busy day at work and tried to get her to go to school, but she kept saying her throat was sore. With her history of strep throat, I didn't want to take the chance. I took her to the doctor and she had strep throat again. This makes 5 times since May. We're still waiting for the referral to go through for an ENT specialist to see what s/he might recommend.I was bummed that Kailani had to miss her costume parade at school today. I had taken the day off to see her parade and Zachary's. Instead, Kailani and I went to see Zachary's parade. Kailani was acting just fine, so I thought she would be okay in the daycare. If I didn't take her along, I wouldn't have been able to see Zachary's parade at all. Zachary did a great job. He had fun walking around the playground and he ate all of his snacks at the party.Tonight we had a movie and ice cream party for Kailani's cheerleading team. The coach thought it would be good for the girls to have some bonding time before competition. I thought we were going to have to cancel the movie night, but since Kailani had been on her medication for over 24 hours and she was feeling fine, we went ahead with it. I sure hope no one gets sick. The girls spent most of the night in the playroom. The movie didn't go off very well. They sat for all of 5 minutes. We had pizza and the girls made their own sundaes. It was a fun night.

Chick Fil-A Halloween Party

We managed to fit in dinner at Chick-fil-A tonight before cheerleading. They had a Halloween party. The kids painted a pumpkin. For some reason, neither of them would pose for a picture with the cow:(

Lots of Pictures

Today we had two scheduled photo sessions...the day after Kailani fell and skinned her chin! I believe this happened right before her 5th birthday pictures too.The first photo shoot was for cheer. The coach wanted the girls to do another team shot and they were able to do individual shots if they wanted. The football team is putting together a DVD with photos of the football players and cheerleaders. The second photo shoot was at Picture People for the annual Halloween photos. The kids actually did really well. Zachary enjoyed having his picture taken and he listened very well to the photographer. Here's a sneak peak of the photos to come...You can't even tell Kailani has bright red chin!

Last Game...or is it?

Today was supposed to be Kailani's last game, but they decided to add another game next weekend. Unfortunately, the boys didn't win today, but they tried. I hope next week they get the "W."After the game, Kailani and I went to a Fancy Nancy birthday party for one of the cheerleaders. Kailani had a great time playing in the back yard. She even fell off a swing and got a brush burn on her chin. The day before more cheer pictures and Halloween pictures. At least Picture People will be able to cover it up:)

Bates Nut Farm

Today we went with Elly and some of her friends to Bates Nut Farm and pumpkin patch. It was a long drive there and we drove through mountains. Kailani commented that it looked like our drive to Julian when we went apple picking. I am surprised at the stuff she remembers!
At the farm we met up with Elly and took a look at the animals they had there. Then we headed off to a hayride through the farm, the corn maze, and finally the pumpkin patch. We even ran into one of Kailani's friends from KinderCare. We were able to get a group picture of each family -- notice that Jason is the only husband not there; the trip interfered with football:) Each of the kids chose a small, medium, and large pumpkin. Kailani got a patch to put on her Daisy uniform. Her apron is going to be full in no time!

Walk on the Wild Side

This morning we woke up very early and headed to the zoo for the Walk on the Wild Side. The year the money raised was going to help the koalas. This year the walk was entirely inside the zoo. In the past, the race started and ended outside the zoo. The kids had a great time, although Kailani got tired of walking pretty quickly. At one point, Kailani was in the stroller and I was carrying Zachary. I said to him, "you're heavy." He said, "I'm not heavy. Kailani is heavy. I'm two!" He's really starting to put sentences together and to respond appropriately to what you say. He's starting to have a little attitude too. After the walk, we stayed inside the zoo for a little while and saw a few animals. It's really tough doing something like this with Zachary. He wants to look at everything for so long. It take four times as much time to do things.
Since we were right near the San Diego Girl Scout site, we decided to stop by after the walk and drop off some items for Goodwill. If you dropped off donations today, the girls got a patch. So far, Kailani has gotten a patch for the Coastal Clean up, The New Day 5K, Disney on Ice, and now the Goodwill drop off. Now I just have to figure out how to sew them all on:)
Today was Brayden's birthday party. We hadn't seen Elly in a long time and haven't yet been able to meet her new baby Hayley (and she's almost 6 months old). It was nice to get the kids together. I wish we got together more often than we do. I am glad that we've stayed in touch over the years. I met Ellly my first year working at Greater San Diego Academy. After the first year, she moved on to another school.

Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue...

Today was Kailani's last day off for fall break...and it was Columbus Day. I didn't have off from work, but I decided to take the day off. I usually only take off when the kids are sick and then we're home bound. I planned a meetup with our group and we made oceans in a bottle. The kids really enjoyed the craft and playing at the park.
After playing at the park for a while, the four of us went to lunch and ran a few errands. We stopped at Best Buy and Kailani enjoyed putting on the head phones and listening to the music playing. As soon as she put on her first pair she yelled, "it's Just a Dream!" Just like her mom...good taste in music:)
It was so nice to take the day off and not think about work.
We were spoiled last week because cheerleading was cancelled all week because of the rain. The kids were in bed by 7:30 each night. It's back to our busy schedule this week!

Brick or Treat

Kailani had a game this morning and the boys actually tied! It was the first game so far they didn't lose, so we were all happy with a tie.
After the game we headed up to Legoland for the Brick or Treat celebration. The kids wore their Halloween outfits and went through the trail picking up candy and treats. We went miniature golfing, and although the kids didn't follow the rules at all, they had fun.

Shamu and You

Today Jason and Zachary headed to the Shamu and You walk at Sea World. Since Kailani had a football game, we couldn't go to the walk. She is going to skip her game in two weeks to do the zoo walk:)
