Hanging with some Old Friends
Today we met up with Kristin, Kaia, and Layla at SeaWorld. They are in CA visiting family and took the time to drive down to San Diego to spend the day with us. The kids were a little shy when they first saw each other (we hadn't seen them in 2 years), but within minutes they were like old buddies again. We were able to have dinner with them before they headed out for the night.

Princess & Pirate Party
Tonight was kids night at Chick-fil-A and they had a princess and pirate party. Kailani chose to go dressed as Cinderella. Cinderella was actually there and she read stories with the kids, danced with them, and posed for pictures. We met up with a few moms from our meetup group for dinner there. We also ran into a little girl from KinderCare and the music/cooking teacher from KinderCare. The kids had a fun time.

Welcome Baby Ava
Congratulations to Jenny! Baby Ava Rose was born at 11:37 am. She was 7 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Ava is in the NICU right now, but hopefully with be with mommy soon.
Swim Party
This morning we went to the pet store to pick up a few items. I decided to let Kailani pick out a beta fish. Every time we go to the pet store, she asks for one. It was never the right timing, but I figured now was a good time. She's really excited out having her own fish.
Today we went to a swim party at the YMCA. I was a little worried about taking both kids by myself because neither of them have been swimming a whole lot. It turned out really well. The "interactive pool" was reserved for the party. This pool was only 1.5 feet deep all around and had lots of fun pipes and tubes with water pouring out. Kailani had a blast! It took Zachary a little while to get his feet wet, but once he did, he had a great time too. I had to roll my pants up and walk in with him.

Kailani enjoyed swimming so much that I feel bad I haven't taken her more often. We do have a pool in our development now that we can go to. Maybe once Jason is home we can check that out. I'm not sure I could do that with both kids. I looked into swim lessons at the YMCA while we're there. We can probably do the first session in July for both kids. It does start after Kailani is in school, but it would work in the afternoon since I won't be working. I could sign both kids up for lessons at back to back times. I'd have to go in the water with Zachary. I just have to make sure the swim lesson schedule won't conflict with cheerleading since that will be starting at the end of July.

Summer
So far, summer is treating us well. I've only got three more days left of work this year and I am very excited to move on with the summer.
Today the kids wore their summer camp shirts for daycare. They have been doing lots of fun activities for the summer camp over the past two weeks. This week was all about science. The kids made silly putty and slime. They had visits from police officers and fire fighters too. I am glad Zachary can participate in all of the fun stuff now that he's moved up to the 2-year old room.

I got a phone call from daycare today that Zachary had a slight fever. His temperature was 99.1, which I wouldn't be worried about, but the daycare gets nervous because of his history of seizures. I was in the middle of interviewing people for positions we need to fill at work next year so I didn't hear the message until about an hour after they called. By then, they had already given Zachary Tylenol. I left work right then to pick him up. I felt bad because I woke both of the kids from their naps. I had some errands to run that I wasn't able to get done, but I wanted to be sure Zachary was okay.
I watched Zachary for the rest of the afternoon and he was fine. He didn't have a fever and he was acting normally.
Since Zachary was doing fine, we followed through with our plans to go to Fiesta Island for a bonfire with the moms group. The kids had a great time. They both toasted marshmallows and made Smores. I am surprised that they didn't even eat all the first one they made. I have a lot of extras. Zachary had so much fun throwing rocks in the water. It was a late night, so maybe the kids will sleep in tomorrow morning.

Dentist
This morning Kailani and Zachary had a dental check up. They both had x-rays; the the first time for Zachary. Kailani did just fine. Zachary didn't want to cooperate, but the hygienist was able to get good pictures anyway.
Zachary watched while Kailani got her teeth cleaned. I thought he was going to sit in the chair and have his cleaned, but he got scared at the last minute. He had to sit on my lap and lay backwards in the hygienist's lap.
The dentist said both of their teeth look great...no cavities. He did say that Zachary already has his 2-year molars, which is little earlier than usual. He said this may mean he'll start loosing teeth earlier than usual too.
After the check-up, each of the kids chose a prize from the store. Each time they go to the dentist, they get points for different things. Their points go on a card and they can use the points to "buy" prizes. They each got 10 points for today's visit.
The hygienist gave the kids each a pair of rubber gloves to play with. Zachary picked purple (grape) and Kailani picked pink (cherry). Later on tonight, they made water balloons out of them in the bath tub.

Lazy Sunday
Today we ran a few errands, but mostly it's a pretty lazy day. The kids tried out their new chairs we got earlier. We'll need them for our Bonfire at Fiesta Island on Friday night:) Zachary had fund sweeping up the flowers on the patio.

A Day with Belle and Hello Kitty
We had a very busy day today, so busy that the kids passed out on the way home:) We started out the morning at the vet with Bruno. In order to refill his thyroid medication, he needed some repeat bloodwork. We'll find out those results in a few days.
We hung out at Becky's house for a while after the party because I had a feeling the kids would fall asleep on the way home. I didn't want them taking such a late nap. Now that it's already bed time, they'll stay asleep for the night.
We then took Jaylynn and Makenzi with us to Isabel's party so Becky and George could prepare for Jaylynn's party. Princess Belle was at Isabel's party. She did face painting, magic tricks, and read a story. The girls all loved it (Zachary was the only boy).
We left Isabel's party and went straight to Jaylynn's party where Hello Kitty visited to do fun activities with the kids. They did several games and face painting. We sang "Happy Birthday" and then did the pinata. We managed to get a picture with Hello Kitty and most of the kids.
We actually don't have anything officially planned for tomorrow, so we'll see what the day brings.
Friday was supposed to be my last day of work (it was for everyone else), but since I've missed so much work this year, I'll be returning to work for the next two weeks:(
Happy Birthday Jaylynn!

Comes in 3s....
I hope the saying "comes in 3s" means that it's almost over for us. Zachary started with a fever last night and Kailani woke up in the middle of the night throwing up. This morning she was complaining of a sore throat. I took both kids to the doctor this morning and they both have strep throat AGAIN! This makes the third time for Kailani in 5 weeks and the second time for Zachary. We are all currently on an antibiotic now, so hopefull after this run we'll all be healthy again.

Fountain Fun
Today we went to a birthday party for a little girl in Zachary's class. Her sister is in Kailani's class and they've become really good friends over the past few years at KinderCare. Too bad they'll be going to different schools for kindergarten. The party was at Mountain Hawk Park, which is where we had our family pictures taken last time Jason was home. The kids had fun playing in the water. Even though it's "June Gloom," it turned out to be a nice day.

Congrats to Leslie!
Congrats to Leslie on her wedding yesterday! I am so sad to have missed her big day. I am very excited to see pictures.

My school's senior class graduated yesterday. We held our graduation ceremony last night in Balboa Park. The event went well with no issues. I wasn't even nervous speaking in front of a crowd of about 500 people! My role was to run the practice and then to announce the students as they walked across the stage for their diplomas. I shared their future plans as well. We have a very ambitious group of kids this year. Becky picked the kids up from daycare for me and watched them during the graduation ceremony and long enough for me to have dinner with a group of people I work with. It was nice to get out, but I did head out early since George had just flown in the night before. I wanted to give them time together as a family since he's been gone for such a long time.
This morning I headed to Otay Ranch HS to pay for Kailani's cheerleading uniform. I've warned her several times that she better stick with it for how much the uniform costs. If she does like it, we're in trouble because there will be a new uniform each year as she grows.
We then headed to the park for the Expo marker houseparty I was hosting with another mom from our playgroup. The kids each got a mini white board, two packs of Expo markers, and an eraser. They had a great time testing out the products. I love house parties!

Cheer Fitting
Tonight was the fitting for Kailani's cheer uniform. Starting at the end of July, she'll be cheering for the Otay Ranch Broncos flag football team. I cannot believe how expensive the uniform is! They are only 5 and there aren't much to the uniforms for the price. We got to the high school about 7:15 and didn't leave until after 8:30. When Kailani tried on a uniform for size, she kept crying because it was "too big." Apparently, she thinks for some reason that her belly has to show and since it didn't, the top was too big. I'm not sure where she got the idea that cheerleaders' bellies should show:)
Kailani met a little girl who she'll be cheering with. She'll actually be turning 5 on July 22; 2 days before Kailani turns 5.
Practice will probably start the week of July 25. The coaches said they practice every day for the first few weeks and then it goes down to 2-3 days per week. I see a busy season in our future!
When we were finished, we ran to our car because I wasn't sure if the gates to the parking lot would still be unlocked. Luckily they opened automatically...I was nervous we would be walking home.

You're too Loud!
Today I finally started to feel like myself again. I hope never to get sick again! After work and school we headed to Chick-fil-A. I feel like we haven't been there in such a long time because of all the sickness going on. Kailani and Zachary were making the craft and talking away...The little girl next to Kailani commented, "you are so loud!" I thought that was such a funny comment because I am always telling Kailani to tone it down a few notches. At least I know it's not just me and that she does talk really loud. She heard me tell the story to a few people today and she laughed. I think she kind of gets the idea now:)

Day of Rest
We had two birthday parties to go to today, but I am not able to take the kids because of how sick I am. Luckily, Becky took both kids with her to the first party. She sent a picture...they're all dressed like bees. We won't be going to the second party, but Kailani seems to be okay with it.
I am thankful that Becky took the kids for a few hours so I could rest. I was feeling really horrible. It's so hard to be a mom and take care of kids. I am actually starting to feel better now.

I Finally Got it:(
So, it finally hit me...I woke up this morning with a sore throat. We were supposed to do Legoland today to make up from last week when Zachary was sick. Luckily I didn't have to cancel today because the other girl cancelled (she was sick). Kailani was upset that we couldn't go, but knowing the way I feel now, I wouldn't have made it very long at Legoland. Becky watched the kids this morning so I could go to urgent care. It turns out that I do have strep throat. At least the medication will be in me long before I have to go back to work on Monday. I decided to take Zachary to urgent care too to see if he has strep...since he had a fever last week and he has a rash, not to mention Kailani and I both have it. The doctor didn't think Zachary showed any signs and he didn't even test for it. He did prescribe him cream for a yeast infection and medication for pin worms, which he may or may not have. He keeps itching his rear end and yells that it "hurts" every time I change his diaper.
I dropped his prescriptions off at CVS through the drive through, thinking I could sit in the parking lot for 15 minutes (both kids were sleeping). Well...I am so frustrated with CVS. Apparently the drive through is for convenience only and is not treated as if you are waiting. Had I gone in with sick (and sleeping) children, I would have gotten the medicine in 15 minutes. Now, I have to drag myself out in an hour and a half to get the prescriptions. Can you tell I'm aggravated? I called back afterwards to complain (that's how I found out it's quicker to go in) and I don't normally do that.

Missing Parts
The other day we received a package from Jason's parents for Kailani and Zachary. It was a new slide/climber for the back yard. Kailani was so excited and wanted me to put it together right away. I soon realized that we were missing the instructions and the hardware. I contacted the company and they sent the missing parts to us. The missing parts arrived today and I was able to build the climber for the kids. They played on it for a long time. They love it!

2-Year Check up
Today was our third visit to the doctor this week! Luckily today's visit was a well visit for Zachary's 2-year check up. I am amazed at how big he is. He is 31 pounds and 36 inches. He is in the 85th percentile for height and weight. He only got one shot today and didn't cry at all. He is such a trooper.
In the elevator on the way out another family asked how old Zachary was and they couldn't believe he had just turned two. Their daughter is 2 1/2 and was smaller than Zachary. I'm not sure where he gets it from...
Happy birthday to Jason!
