Tackling the HILL

Today we planning an 11-mile run with a big HILL to prepare for the San Diego Half Marathon. There is a large hill in the half marathon that is at about mile 9. It is a beast!

A Little Bit of Everything

In August my first article was published. I never received a copy of the journal in the mail, so I contacted the publisher. I finally received a hard copy! I am ready for the next one:)

Kailani loves to do arts and crafts. She's been asking to go to Micheal's for a while. Today I decided to surprise her and take her to Hobby Lobby. We both had never been there before. Hobby Lobby recently opened up in Chula Vista, and I am sure we will be making many more trips there.

Goat Canyon Trestle

Today we explored a trail that is about 1 hour from San Diego in the Anza-Borrego Desert. The trail follows abandoned train tracks and houses the largest wooden trestle (Goat Canyon Trestle) in the WORLD! It's about 7.5 miles to the trestle, which makes it a 15-mile hike round trip. It was definitely worth it!

Unfortunately, a private company recently bought the railroad and will start construction soon with the plan to reopen the railroad. We need to bring the kids before it's closed to hikers!

In-House Tournament

Zachary started taekwondo in October and he's just loving it. Pride (where he goes), offered an in-house tournament to help the kids prepare for an upcoming regional tournament. Zachary decided to participate and had a great time. He saw some kids compete in sparring, so he decided he wanted to start going to sparring classes once per week.

Each of the kids who participated in the in-house tournament received a medal.

Couples Bowling

We try to plan a couples night every once in a while. Tonight we decided to go bowling at Eastlake Tavern. We always have a lot of fun when the guys and girls are out together.

Happy Valentine's Day!

The kids are not allowed to give out Valentine's with food or candy, so this year they gave out erasers. They had fun making them.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at Viejas Arena for a Gulls Game. They won!

Cookies on Tap

Last year Girl Scouts partnered with local breweries to offer an event called Cookies on Tap to pair cookies with beer.
Kailani and Kaia did booth sales and the guys (Jason and Kevin) drank beer.

Girl Scout Cookies

We started off the day with a 5K at Cabrillo National Monument. It was a challenging 5K, with several large hills. We made it though (33 minutes).

Girl Scout cookie season is here! Now that Kailani is a Cadette, she can do booths with one adult. She had her first booth today at Starbucks.

Kailani heard there were still mystery houses left, so we went out selling door-to-door this afternoon. If you find a mystery house, you get a prize.

Duel in the Desert

This weekend we took the whole family to Palm Springs for the Duel in the Desert Cheer competition.

Last night the girls took a picture "Ready for War!"

 We stopped at a restaurant for pizza the night we got in.

Kailani brought all of her dolls.

The girls competed on both days again. 

We didn't have much time to explore, but we did make it to a few breweries (for Jason).

 
This was a huge competition and the girls tried really hard, but did not get a bid to Summit. Hopefully they will get a bid at the next one. They really want to compete in Orlando!

Spartan Celebration

#RebelMoms always celebrate after hard work. We celebrated our double Spartan race weekend at Novo Brazil. The kids were invited to hang out too.
