Happy Easter!

The kids woke up bright and early excited about the Easter egg the bunny had left in their rooms. They each got to hunt for eggs hidden in one room for each of them. They always have fun searching for eggs. They loved everything in their Easter basket. Zachary's favorite is his Lego mining set. We got him a few Lego books and they go along with the Lego City sets. He enjoys reading books about the sets he has. I think he only needs one more dump truck to complete the whole mining set. He already asked to go to the Lego store tomorrow.

Kailani and Zachary each got their own tablet from us. They love to play games on our phones and on my kindle, so we thought they would love to have their own. We got them a nabi tablet, which is made for kids. When it was time for bed, we couldn't get them off the tablets. We have to figure out how to download the games they want and find some cases, but so far they love them.
Kailani and Zachary were so excited about the gifts the Easter Bunny brought, the didn't want to go to church. They each built their new Lego sets instead.
Becky and George came over with the girls today to celebrate Easter with us. We walked across the street to the "rock" park to find eggs that Jason, George, Makenzi (she's too old for the egg hunt now, and Makenzi's friend hid for the little ones to find. They hid over 200 eggs and the kids had a blast finding them.

 Happy Easter!

Easter Eggstravaganza

This morning we went to our church's Easter Eggstravaganza. The kids got to make a few different crafts, get tattoos, and eat snow cones. There was an egg hunt for each of their age groups. The fire department came to show off a truck and the police department came with a K9 unit. The kids had a good time.

Coloring eggs later in the day.

Park Fun

After swim lessons this morning, we decided to stop by one of the parks we haven't been to (Zachary and I were here once for Stroller Strides a long time ago). The kids always have a fun time exploring new places.

Kailani lost her 3rd tooth this afternoon. She is excited for the tooth fairy to visit tonight.

Splash Week

Today officially starts my spring break. This is the only week we are all off at the same time and of course, Jason is gone. The kids have swim lessons at the YMCA all week. It's a special event called "splash week" where they'll be learning different water safety tips each day. Zachary was a little scared to go in at first since I couldn't go with him, but he got over it quickly.

Beatiful day at the park

Today Kailani and I went to a birthday party at Mountain Hawk Park. It is such a beautiful park with the view of Otay Lake in the background.  I just had to get a picture.
Of course, while Kailani and I were at the party, Daddy and Zachary went to the store to get more Legos. As if we don't have enough already! We went to the store on Saturday and got some more organizers for Legos so the kids could each have a Lego area in their rooms.

Firefighter Challenge and Science Expo

Today was one of those days when so much was going on there just wasn't enough time in the day to do it all. We had to pick a few of the many wonderful events to go to.
We started off at the Chula Vista Fire Department kids firefighter challenge. The kids were able to participate in an obstacle course that included carrying a hose, saving victims, and squirting a hose. The kids had such a great time. I love that the fire department does such neat things for the community.

We then headed over the Petco Park for the annual Science Expo. The entire stadium is filled with vendors (schools, companies, etc.) that have cool science activities for kids to do. We've gone for a few years now and the kids have a blast. We didn't get to stay very long because we had somewhere else to be, but the kids had fun while we were there.

Our last stop was a "tutu and tie" birthday party for Hayley.

Jungle Jack

Today I took the day off to take the kids to the YMCA to see a presentation by Jack Hanna. Kailani actually went to camp this morning and we met her at the presentation. Along with Seaworld, Jack Hanna (Jungle Jack) talked about macaws, a pot-bellied pig, and a kangaroo. Kailani got an autographed picture since she was with the YMCA camp.

We took the cats to the vet this afternoon. They hate going in the cages except when they are in the vet's office:) They even try to squish together in one cage if it gets them away from the doctor. Unfortunately, the cats all have really bad plaque build up and Gabby and Maddie even have gingivitis. They need to have the plaque removed as soon as possible. We knew it had to be done for a while, but had kept putting it off because of the cost ($500 per cat). It looks like we'll have to get it done now.

Early Egg Hunt

Tonight we went for a walk to the park across the street. Zachary started off with his motorcycle, but ended up switching it out for his bike (that didn't have a battery). We took the dogs with us and headed to the park. Kailani played with a friend she knows from the YMCA at school. There was a group of kids hiding plastic Easter eggs and hunting for them. Zachary and Kailani were invited to participate. They hunted for eggs first and then they did the hiding.
