Broncos Week 2

Today we had 2 away games. Zachary's game was against Menifee at Steeele Canyon High School. Thankfully we didn't have to make the long drive up to Menifee. The flag team won 21-6. So far they are on a roll!
The kids each got these awesome Broncos hats!

Kailani's team played Skyline at Morse High School. They won 50-6. What a great game!

Otay Ranch Youth Football Night

Tonight the kids participated in youth football night at Otay Ranch High School. All of the football and cheer teams were recognized on the field at half-time of Otay Ranch's first football game of the season. After half-time, the cheerleaders cheered with the high school girls. It was really nice because several of the JV cheerleaders were Broncos cheerleaders last year.

The Broncos Family

Art

I've been teaching art for a little over a month now at Heritage and Clear View. We have done several things, but this week at Clear View the kids finished their art project based on the Monet water lily series. I am so proud of all of the hard work the kids put in. I'll be doing this same project with the kids at Heritage next week. Between both schools, I see over 1,500 students!

*I can't figure out how to rotate the photo:) This is one of my favorite pieces created by a student.

Koa's Plans

A few weeks ago I purchased the kids an organizer for their closets to help with picking out clothes for the week. It has saved us a bunch of time in the morning. Koa decided he likes to lay inside Kailani's organizer. I guess he has different plans for what Kailani should wear tomorrow:)

Broncos Week 1

Today was week 1 of the official Broncos season. Zachary had an early game. We weren't expecting very much since the team was beat badly during the preseason game the week before, but the boys did awesome and they won 25-19.

Mean Faces!
Kailani's game was a little later in the day. It was a good game and the boys ended up tying 6-6.

It was a very long day. We were at the field from 7am-7pm. I am ready for a break from snack bar duty when we have away games next week!

PreSeason

Today Otay Ranchh hosted several preseason games. Zachary's team played this morning and unfortunately they lost. I think the score was 48-6:( Hopefully they know what to work on this week in preparation for the first official game next weekend.
Kailani did not cheer for her preseason game today because the girls did not have very many practice days to review cheers. We did stay at the field to watch a few of the other games. It was very hot!

Heritage Hoe Down

Tonight was the Back to School Picnic at Heritage. We went with a western theme this year and had the picnic catered by a company that provided hot dogs, pulled chicken, potato salad, and beans. There were a few games to play and a move to end the night. Kailani helped me collect dinner tickets and pass out raffle tickets.

Zachary made a sheriff badge and posed for some pictures in front of the photo booth.

Chargers

The football team Kailani cheers for was invited to play a scrimmage on the football field at Qualcomm Stadium before the Chargers preseason game against the Cowboys tonight. The cheerleaders went along to cheer on the boys.

The football players and cheerleaders were able to stand on the sidelines with the NFL players ran out onto the field and for the National Anthem.
We stayed to watch the first half of the Chargers game. Although we are not Chargers fans, Zachary was cheering on the Chargers tonight. We would never cheer for the Cowboys;)

Cheer Camp

Today SDYFC hosted a cheer camp/clinic for the girls. The camps are always a great experience for the girls and they always learn something new.

Jason and Zachary decided to go to the Phillies/Padres game again, so Kailani and I had lunch at the Corvette Diner (her choice).

Phillies in San Diego

The Phillies were in San Diego this weekend, so of course we went to a game. The kids got all decked out in their Phillies gear for the occasion. They were giving out replica jerseys for 2 players who were recently inducted into the Padres Hall of Fame (Santiago and Templeton).

Flag Blue Team Building

Today marked the end of the first 2 weeks of football/cheer practice and conditioning. Zachary's team decided to cut practice short and have some team building activities. The boys ate hot dogs and the parents ate tostadas. The boys played some games and hung out. They had a great time!

Balboa 8 Miler

Today I ran the Balboa 8 miler in Balboa Park. I was very surprised to find that the race was mostly on trails rather than on the roads. It was very tough...lots of big hills. But...I did it and finished in 1:39:51.
