Zachary got a new teacher a few days after school started. Apparently some of the parents complained to the principal that his original teacher's Spanish was not very good. His teacher was moved to TK and the TK teacher (who had taught 3rd grade last year) was moved to 3rd grade. Here is a photo with his new teacher:
The dogs are still getting used to the new schedule. Sometimes I have to lock the out of my office so they aren't disruptive. They wait at the bottom of the stairs until I let them back up.
The kitties are getting used to the new office arrangement too.
Koa loves has taken over the dog blanket...
I missed Maxim while I was away for work. I love the fun Saturday workouts.

WGU
Last week I was in Salt Lake City for training for my new job at Western Governors University. I spent all day at the WGU training facility. I was able to get out and run/explore along a nice trail a few nights. The mountains were beautiful.
Our cohort...
I learned a lot during my week at WGU, but I still have more training to do at home. We've converted the kids' movie room into an office. The dogs like to keep me company.

First Day of School
Today was the first day of school. We have a 6th grader and a 3rd grader. Unfortunately I missed the first day of school, but Jason shared some photos with me.
One of the parents shared a picture of some of the 6th graders outside their classroom.

Strong Girls
Kailani went to a sleepover at the cheer gym last night. I picked her up and took her to the gym with me this morning. A few other cheer moms were working out there too. Our girls wanted in on the fun!

Pool Day
This morning at Maxim, we celebrated Becky's birthday. I love our 6am group!
This afternoon the kids decided to go to the pool. They don't have very many days of summer vacation left, so I let them choose what they wanted to do.

Ronald McDonald House
This morning we volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. This house is at the Children's Hospital and is for families who have children in the hospital to stay for extended periods of time. Today they were holding a grand re-opening of a house that was open in the 1980s. They have a brand new house, but received a donation that allowed them to renovate and reopen the old house. With this house, they can accommodate 8 more families each night.
We formed a human chain from the new house to the old house to pass items that are going to be used to furnish the rooms.

End of Summer Picnic
It's hard to believe our summer is coming to an end! The kids go back to school next week. We decided to have a picnic to celebrate with all of our friends. This beautiful park is right in Chula Vista!
Tonight a friend of mine had a Sip Sign n Wine party. We each got to paint our own sign. It turned out so nice. Now I have to find a place to hang it!

Cow Day
Today was Cow Day and we celebrated by dressing up as cows for free food at Chick-fil-A. We've been participating in Cow Day for years.
Here's a look back at some of our past Cow Days...
Today was also 7-11, so of course we stopped by 7-Eleven for free slurpees!

Annie's Canyon
Today we went on a kid-friendly hike of Annie's Canyon in Solana Beach. It was a short, 1/4 mile trail, but it was beautiful. We had to go through very tight spaces to get through the canyon. There was a nice view from the top. The kids went through a few times and then we stopped at Las Olas Mexican restaurant for lunch. I love summer!
