Tonight after cheer practice the girls participated in a trunk or treat event. The parents decorated their trunks in the parking lot and the kids got to go trick or treating. It was our first trunk or treat event. The kids had a lot of fun. Here are all of the cheerleaders (5 teams).

Last Padres Game of the Season
Today was the last Padres game that we had season tickets for. Kailani did not want to go, so she and I spent the evening together. Zachary skipped football practice to go with Jason. They each got a nice Padres fedora. They went early enough to watch batting practice and Zachary collected two more balls.
The kids have decided they want to visit all of the MLB ballparks. We don't have much more time this season, but we will check off our next ball park on Sunday. We have tickets to the Angels game. Zachary is hoping to get there early to see if he can get a ball there too.

Heroes in Training
I found out about a special CPR training event that was offered for kids at Petco Park before the game today. Since the kids had to be at least 8 years old, only Kailani was able to participate. A fire truck from the San Diego Fire Department came by to talk to the kids and show them the truck. Afterward, the kids went into the park and were training how to do hands-only CPR. They each got a family CPR with with inflatable mannequin to take home and practice.
While we were at the CPR training, the boys were watching the teams warm up. Zachary got 2 baseballs. One was signed by Matt Cain, a Giants pitcher. The other was signed by several Giants players and the Padres manager, Andy Green.
I found out this morning that one of my friends lost her daughter to cancer. She had been battling brain cancer for almost a year. Earlier this year, our Fit Miss group made and served dinner at Rady's Ronald McDonald House, where the family had spent a lot of time. RIP Maddie...

Hanging out at Petco
Today was a hot one! Zachary's team played the Westview Wolverines. The boys won 39-6. They took out the starting player and even the very young players were scoring touchdowns. Zachary keeps talking about playing tackle next year. We'll see about that...
After the game the boys celebrated one of the player's birthdays. They all have a great time together.
After the game, we headed to Toys R Us for another free Lego build. This time the kids made the candle from Beauty and the Beast.
Since the kids attended at least 11 Padres games this year, they were invited to a special Padres signing event. We were hoping Wil Myers would be the one signing, but it was Travis Jankowski. We like him, but we already had his autograph. Zachary decided to have him sign his hat.

Zoo Fun
Kailani decided to go to cheer camp this week at Heat, so Zachary and I enjoyed some time together. We met up with my friend Kristin at the zoo. We haven't been to the zoo in a while, so it was nice to go. Zachary took over my phone for the day and was taking a lot of pictures. We downloaded the pictures to his laptop as soon as we got home. It was a cool morning, so a lot of animals were out.

Monday Night Lights
Today the kids and I started fall break. We are off for two weeks. Although we are off, Kailani decided to go to cheer camp at Heat. Apparently at camp over the summer, several girls learned new skills. Kailani had a great time and she got her back bend down!
While Kailani was at camp, Zachary and I spent the day together running errands, playing games, playing baseball in the yard, etc.
After we picked Kailani up from cheer camp, we stopped at Krispy Kreme for a free donut. Today is pirate day. If you talked like a pirate you got a free donut. If you dressed like a pirate you got a free dozen donuts. Zachary and I brought some costumes so the kids were able to each get a dozen. We'll have donuts all week.
Tonight Zachary also had football practice. It's getting darker earlier now, so we need to use the stadium lights. Practice on Monday night is not too bad when we don't have to worry about getting up for school the next day. I love vacation!

Good News
Last Tuesday I dropped Bruno off at the vet in the morning to have surgery on his leg. A few weeks ago he started limping so we took him to the vet. It turned out that he completely tore a ligament in his right leg. The vet recommended surgery to repair it. Although the cost of the surgery was very high, we decided to move forward with it because Bruno is part of our family and we want him to be comfortable.
As it turns out, the surgeon was not able to complete the surgery after looking at the inside of his leg. There was a possibility of arthritis (in which case the surgery would not be helpful - it was to prevent arthritis). There was a possibility of cancer (in which case the surgery would be useless). There was also a possibility of an infection. In the case of an infection, the surgery could be completed if/when the infection is cleared.
We got a call today from the vet that there is no infection and there is no cancer! The surgeon recommended keeping Bruno on the antibiotics for another month. If he is doing well and walking on his leg, he will most likely not need surgery. This is such great news!!
Jason and I had decided that we didn't want to put Bruno through surgery again even if he needed it. It was very hard to watch him in pain on the day of the procedure.
He will go into the vet tomorrow morning to have his bandages removed. His stitches will be removed next week. We are very happy that Bruno is still healthy at 12 years old.

Poor Bruno:(
Bruno on the couch the day after surgery...he's not supposed to be jumping up or down..

Coastal Clean Up
Today Zachary had an early game against Bonita. Both teams were undefeated. Unfortunately, the Broncos lost 27-22; however, the coach is going to contest the final score. Each player has to have 8 plays in the game. There were 2 players on the Bonita team who did not play all 8 plays. According to the rules, Bonita will have to forfeit the game.
After the game, Zachary and I headed to Discovery Park to participate in the Coastal Clean up with Cub Scouts. The boys found a large bush that had lots of "treasures" inside. They had fun finding strange items.
A Chula Vista Police Officer stopped by the park to see what was going on and talked with our group for a while.
We made a stop at Toys R Us for a free Lego build...Cogsworth, the clock from Beauty and the Beast. Next weekend it's the candle.
While Zachary and I were at football, Jason and Kailani headed up to La Jolla for the grand opening of a new Lego Store. They wanted to be one of the first 400 in line to get a free mini Lego Store set.
I had to work the snack bar for the rest of the day, so Jason took the kids back to the Lego Store and they helped build a Lego mural of Beauty and the Beast that will be on display at Disneyland.
PreGame huddle for the defensive team.

Apex Fun Run
Today was the annual Apex Fun Run at school. The kids did a great job. I was teaching 2nd grade today, so I was able to see the 2nd graders participate in the run. Fortunately, it was recess time during the 5th grade run time and I was able to see Kailani for a few minutes.
Zachary ran a total of 46 laps and Kailani ran 41.
