Valentine/St. Patty Pics

Old Poway Park

We had a busy weekend! Saturday morning we went to Old Poway Park with the meetup group. There was a farmer's market there and real train rides. Kailani was excited for the train ride, but when we got there, she refused to ride it. We just watched our friends go by. Kailani threw pennies in the fountain and we played around in the grass for a while with the other kids. Kailani had fun playing ring around the rosie.
After the park, we headed to cooking class. For this class, the kids made omelets. Kailani cut up broccoli, spinach, cheese, and ham. The kids put all the ingredients (with an egg) in a baggie and boiled it. The omelet was actually really good.
Saturday night we had an appointment for Valentine pictures at Picture People. The kids did really well. I was hoping for St. Patty's pictures too, but Kailani didn't want to change her clothes and sit for more pictures. Zachary was more cooperative and his pictures came out nice. We had dinner at the mall and then headed home. Kailani fell asleep on the way home and Zachary fell asleep shortly after.
This morning Kailani and I headed off to the Sports Arena for Disney on Ice. We got to see The Lion King, Cars, The Little Mermaid, and Tinkerbell in the show. Kailani had a great time. She fell asleep in the car on the way home.
This afternoon, we met the meetp group at the Village Walk Shopping Center in Eastlake to feed the koi and turtles. They didn't have any food when we got there, so we just looked at them. The kids played in the play structure for a while and then we had dinner at Pat and Oscar's. Zachary loved the bread sticks...he couldn't get enough of them.
Zachary is doing so much now. I can stand up in his pack n play. I haven't taken the bassinet part down yet because I use it as a changing table. I am not going to be able to leave him unattended in the pack n play unless I take the bassinet down. I'm sure he'll be walking much earlier than Kailani did.

Pajama party

Tuesday night was Chick-fil-A night...of course. It was a pajama party. Kailani changed into her pjs when I picked her up from school. She's been looking forward to pj night since she heard about it last week. She got to decorate a pillow case. The cow came out in his cow pjs. Kailani wouldn't take a picture with him, so I had to sneak one.
Today I took Zachary to the doctor for his boosters of the flu and H1N1 shots. Again, he didn't cry; just looked a little uncomfortable. He was 22 pounds, 4 ounces today. After the doctor we took advantage of being out of work and school early and the kids played at home.
Zachary loves his baths now since he is able to sit up in the tub. He and Kailani play together with all the toys. Zachary is starting to pull himself up on furniture now.
I found someone who is going to hand paint letters for Zachary's room to match his nursery set. I didn't have much luck with the person who painted Kailani's letters. Although they turned out beautifully, it took a year to get them when I was told 8 weeks! I saw a sketch of Zachary's letters and they look adorable. I can't wait to get them.
We've got a busy weekend planned...train ride in Poway and cooking class on Saturday, Disney on Ice (just me and Kailani) and dinner with the meetup group on Sunday.

Keebler Kids Marathon

We were excited for the weekend to arrive! It's been raining like crazy here...and hailing. Luckily today we got a little break from the rain. Kailani ran (yes she actually ran this year) the Keebler Kids Marathon Mile this morning. The photographers got some great pictures of her running across the finish line. I can't wait to see how they turned out. The announcer commented on her sunglasses...that she looked like a movie star from Hollywood. Kailani and Zachary both got a medal at the end of the race.
Kailani had her cooking class this afternoon. She made a banana dog sandwich, using jelly and peanut butter instead of ketchup and mustard. Next week they are going to make omelets by boiling eggs in a plastic bag.
We hung out at Becky's today and Kailani had fun playing with the girls. Kailani and I had a night out together. Becky watched Zachary while Kailani and I had dinner at Applebee's (her choice) and then headed to the movies. We saw The Princess and the Frog with the girls in out Meetup group. We had already seen the movie, but figured it would be fun to see it again. Movies on the Miramar base are only $1 for anyone over 6. You can't beat a $1 movie! Last time we saw the movie, we paid $8 per person. We met up with someone who bought one of Kailani's old toys...I've been trying to sell some baby items that we no longer need. I've sold a few things tomorrow and will be meeting up with someone else tomorrow to sell another item. It's better than just giving things away.
The Chipmunks Squeakquel is going to be playing at the movie theater on base at the beginning of February. Kailani's been wanting to see that. Kailani wanted to collect all of the chipmunk toys from McDonald's but they sold out quickly. We can't find the toys anywhere anymore. On Friday I actually found a McDonald's that had one of the girls and I just bought it for her. I didn't realize you could just buy the toys...I should have bought all 6 of them in the very beginning. Oh well.
Kailani and Zachary had such a busy day they both fell asleep on the way home from Becky's house.

More cooking

Saturday Kailani started her new cooking class. This is the second cooking class she will be taking. She has the same teacher, but they will be doing different recipes. There are 15 kids in her class, including several boys. Last time there were only girls in the class. For the first class, she made a pasta salad. The kids made their dressing with oil, vinegar, and seasonings. They cut up lots of veggies and other things, including Kailani's favorite...black olives.
Becky watched Zachary so Kailani and I could go to the class alone. Kailani played with Jaylynn and Makenzi all afternoon.
Today we did a few errands, but mostly just hung around the house.
Zachary is getting another tooth. Three teeth are officially in and three more are coming in at different stages. I can't believe he's going to have six teeth already. I don't remember Kailani's teeth coming in so quickly.
We are looking forward to having Monday off. If the rain holds off, we'll try to get together at the park with the meetup group in the morning. We may try to get together with my friend Elly, to see her little boy. He's just a few months old. It is supposed to rain all week. I do miss the rain, but I like watching it from indoors. I don't like going out in it.

Planet 51

We had a relaxing weekend. Friday I heard of the sad news that my step-dad passed away. I feel so sorry for my sister Jenny:( I keep thinking of her.
AmVets came to pick up lots of stuff we were getting rid of. I can start to see a dent in the mess of the garage. I posted a bunch of baby items on my meetup groups and on Miramar Yardsales so I can try to make some money off the items. They are all still in good shape.
Saturday we stayed home all day. Becky and the kids came over. Becky brought all of my boxes from my dad's house that came with her in the move. We went through all the boxes of books I had from teaching. I kept a bunch for Kailani and Zachary. Makenzi and Jaylynn took a bunch of books that I didn't want. I am going to donate the rest of the books to "united through reading." Donated books go to deployed service members. They can read books and record them on DVD...the DVDs are sent to their children. What a cute idea!
Today we went to the movies with our meetup group on the Miramar base. We saw Planet 51. I thought it was neat that the entire theater had to stand for the National Anthem before the movie. The movie was good, but probably better for little boys. Too bad Zachary wasn't old enough to enjoy it. We're just relaxing now and getting ready for next week. We won't have daddy to help out this week:(

New Year's Day

We spent New Year's Day with Becky and her family. We had the traditional pork and sauerkraut. The girls had a fun time playing. We got a lot done in the house on Sunday. We have a huge stack of items to donate to AmVets. They'll pick up on Friday. It will be nice to have the extra space. I have lots of baby stuff I am ready to get rid of. All of it is in good condition, so I am going to try and sell the items. I'll first try the meetup groups and then other options.
We returned to work and school on Monday. It's been so hard to wake up in the morning. I am ready for my next vacation...2 weeks of for spring break.
Tonight we went to Chick-fil-A. Ms. Joy was back after her vacation. Kailani was very excited to see her. Kailani enjoyed the craft tonight. Zachary now sits at the table with us in a high chair. He is getting so big.
