New Year's Eve

We celebrated New Year's Eve at Legoland as we do most years. We watched the Lego brick fall and then had dinner at TGI Friday's.

They're opening a Ninjago Land in the spring!

They opened a new build a boat section since we were there last.

Zachary loved the ribs at TGI Friday's!
Our vet showed appreciation for us again this year! As you can see, Kailani and Zachary already ate one!

Cowles Mountain

Today we decided to hike Cowles Mountain. We tried once before, but the kids couldn't make it all the way to the top. It's a 3+ mile hike round trip. We made it to the top this time!!

Jungle Bells

This afternoon we went to the zoo for Jungle Bells before the holiday season is over.
The zoo will be celebrating 100 years in 2016, so there is a giant cake to celebrate.

Holiday Half

Today I ran my second half marathon. I did not plan to do this one, but ended up signing up last minute. Although there were a lot of "down hills," it was tough because I wasn't as prepared since I was following the training schedule for my half marathon on January 17.
I finished the race in 2:30:54. I was going for 2:30 or under, so I'm happy. This was a better time than my first half marathon back in May.
Before the race:) It was COLD...in the 30s!!
After the race:) Becky has been an awesome running partner and friend!
I didn't realize this when I signed up for the holiday half marathon, but since I also did the Turkey Trot 15K this year, I got a third "special" medal.
I can't believe I am going to do this again in exactly 3 weeks!!

Merry Christmas!

Everyone had a great day. The kids loved their presents...Kailani's favorite is her speaker with microphone. Zachary's favorite is his soccer net and ball. They both really enjoyed tracking their steps all day on their new Kid Power (like a Fit Bit).

The dogs liked their presents too.
We hung around the house all day and then went to Fuji for dinner (our annual Christmas tradition). As soon as we got home, it started HAILING! I guess we had a White Christmas in San Diego.

Christmas Eve

Tonight we went to the Christmas Eve service at church. The kids got to go on stage and help decorate the Christmas tree. After church, we watched The Peanuts Movie on base.

Poinsettia Bowl

Today we took the kids to the Poinsettia Bowl. We got there early so the kids could get a special tour of the field. They got to walk around on the field before the game.

We stayed and watched the entire game. Zachary cheered for Boise State because the mascot is a Bronco. Boise State beat Northern Illinois 55-7. They broke the record for the most points scored in a Poinsettia Bowl (51 back in 2005).
After the game, they put on a awesome fireworks show. I am glad we stayed for that part.

Fun Play Date

This morning we took Bruno to the vet to have his teeth cleaned. He's 11 years old and we've never had it done. We figured it was time. Poor Bruno was totally out of it when we picked him up, but his teeth are all clean!
We plan to hang around the house for a few days over this break to get a few projects done that have been on the "list" for a while. The number one project is organizing the garage. Jason started working on it, but it's going to be a long project.
Kailani got a call from her friend Haley this morning to see if she wanted to go ice skating. Hailey's family owns a daycare with before/after school care. During the school breaks, they offer camps. Today they were taking the camp kids ice skating and Haley wanted Kailani to go along for a play date. Kailani has only gone ice skating once (for a past cheer banquet), but she had a great time and she wants to go again soon. Here's Lynn (Hailey's mom) helping Kailani get used to the ice.

Hot Buttered Run

This morning the kids and I participated in the Hot Buttered run. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun. I ran the 10K (1:06) and the kids ran the 1K.
 Santa was at the race!
After my race, but before the kids' race.
Zachary and Jason; running buddies. They ran together last year.

 Stretching before the race.

This evening we went to a special family night event at The Shout House. This is the place I usually go when I go out with friends. It's a dueling piano bar and it's a lot of fun. They hosted a family-friendly event where they sang kid songs and Christmas songs. The kids had a lot of fun, but were ready to go before it was over.
