McTeacher's Night

Tonight I volunteered to help Kailani's school with McTeacher's Night at McDonalds. The teachers and the PTO helped behind the counter and sold apples/cookies to raise money for the school.

Fancy Nancy Parade

Today we drove up to Del Mar for a Fancy Nancy parade. We pre-purchased the new Fancy Nancy book, which got us into the VIP reception. The illustrator of the book series talked about how she got the idea for the Nancy character. Then, we paraded around Del Mar. Those who attended the VIP reception got to have ice cream and cookies, make jewelry, and meet the illustrator. We love children's book events!
 

 

Healthy Kids Day

Today we went to the Healthy Kids Day event at the Otay Ranch Mall. We participated in a family boot camp challenge hosted by the YMCA. There were lots and lots of booths with games and giveaways. The kids each got a new helmet.

I got to spend the evening with some of the Chula Vista East moms for a game of Bunco. I was the big winner, with the most Buncos. I went home with $60!

Friday Fun

Unfortunately I had to take my car into the dealer again today. The air conditioning wasn't working again (I had it fixed in October). The same part broke this time, but in the rear instead of the front. It was an expensive fix, but I was able to save $100 with the military discount. It's too bad I didn't know about the military discount before today.
Jason took a detour to the Lego Store on the way home from the dealer. They were going to "look," but I should have known they couldn't do that. They came home with two bags full of Legos!

Old Town Field Trip

Today Kailani's class went on a field trip to Old Town. They are learning about what things were like in the past. I went along as a chaperone, so I was able to get some pictures of the fun.

Casi 7 Años

Tonight Kailani worked on a timeline project for school. She is learning about the past and present. We searched through our pictures and printed one out for each year from birth to 'almost' 7 years. She is very proud of her project:)

Earth Fair

Today we spent the day at Balboa Park for the annual Earth Fair celebration. We had never gone before and the kids had a good time exploring the different booths.

Disneyland Trip with Daisies

Today Kailani and I went to Disneyland with the Daisies. The girls raised enough money from selling cookies to purchase a ticket for each of them and one adult. I felt bad leaving Zachary behind, especially since Jason had duty, but he had a blast with Becky and the girls. Kailani and I drove up separately from everyone else and I am glad we did. We walked inside the park at 10am and the rest of the group didn't get there until 11:30.
Kailani and I got to go on rides that we'd not been on before because Zachary is too little: Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones (she hated it), The Haunted Mansion, etc. Disneyland is such a different experience without a stroller. Although...one of the moms just had knee surgery and had to be pushed around in a wheel chair. That ended up working out to our advantage though because we got to skip most of the lines:)

 

 

While we were at Disneyland, Becky took Zachary to watch Jaylynn's soccer game and then to the ASYMCA Healthy Kids Day. The kids spent the rest of the afternoon playing in the water. Becky sent pictures to me throughout the day.

   

Kailani wanted to have dinner at Goofy's Kitchen and luckily they took us in without a reservation. We enjoyed a late dinner and headed home. It was a long day for everyone. My boss helped out with the dogs, by stopping over twice today to let them out. That was a big help. We were able to enjoy the day without having to rush home.

The Magic Tree House Bus Tour

This afternoon we took the kids to see The Magic Tree House live. Kailani loves the book series and was looking forward to going. The two main characters in the stories did a live show. They picked one volunteer from the audience to come up and help them sing a song. Of course, Kailani was that volunteer. She was so excited to volunteer, but she was so shy in front of all of the people. After the show, the kids got to meet Jack and Annie and have their books signed. What a great event!

Happy Birthday to the Library

Today there was a celebration at the library to celebrate its first birthday. They started off with story time. For the first story, Kailani got to be Rapunzel. For another story, Zachary got to be the king.
 

We also went to the Parkway pool for the annual April Pool's Day event to teach kids about pool safety. Kailani got a free half hour lesson.

Dino Jaws

Tonight was a members-only preview of the new Dino Jaws exhibit at the Natural History Museum. Jason was on duty, so the kids and I checked it out.

Family Art Night

Tonight we attended family art night at Kailani's school. Zachary lasted about a 1/2 hour before he had to go home. I finished his picture.
Kailani was proud of her masterpiece, although she did keep saying she was bored the entire time.
