Spartan Celebrations

We celebrated our Spartan accomplishment on two different days at Novo Brazil.

Here's the first...

And the second...

Here are a few other random pics from the week:

Kailani and Sadie were twins at cheer.
Koa loves to relax in my office...
I still laugh at what my computer looks like when we have "meetings." For this meeting, the big boss asked us to come on camera and introduce our pets:) Kona was on my desk, so I introduced him.

Ho Chi Minh

Today we celebrated Ana's birthday with a hike in La Jolla. The Ho Chi Minh trail goes between houses in a very upscale neighborhood and leads out to the beach. It is a very tough trail, but surfers use it to get out to the beach. I think they are going to close it down soon.

Ready to get started!

Beautiful views!

We made it to the beach!

Private lookout (the "mushroom house") with an elevator to the beach...

Steel Bridge Run

Today we went for a 7-mile trail run to the steel bridge. It was challenging and hot, but it was fun.

The tiki hut is the halfway point.
We capture all of our fun on camera!

 Snake tracks...

 The steel bridge!

This afternoon we went to Liberty Station for the San Diego Festival of Books. They had over 50 local authors and illustrators there to read books and sign them. We enjoyed the even, but mostly the kids' area.
I found this book, which I was really excited about. My old boss used to tell this story at the start of every school year. And...they told this story during my WGU training in Salt Lake City.

Kailani's cheer team had a team bonding event tonight at one of the girl's houses. They had a blast!

Busy Girl Scouts

Today Kailani's Girl Scout troop met for the first time since the end of the school year. They spent all of the meeting time, finishing up the work for their Bronze Award Project. They boxed up all of the crayons they collected at the school and got them ready to send out. Each of the girls are going to raise money to ship one box.

We shared the girls' work with The Crayon Initiative and they thanked the girls on their Facebook page.

They have worked very hard on their project and will now share what they've done with a new Junior troop to help spread the word.

Spartan

Friday night we headed up to LA for the night. We got to explore a little and have a nice dinner at Grand Central Market.

This morning we were up bright and early ready for SPARTAN! I had never done a spartan before and I was a little nervous. The race took place inside Dodger Stadium. The race was between 3 and 5 miles with obstacles along the way. We ended up running up and down 9,000 stairs and completing 21 obstacles. It was such a great experience. I am already signed up for 2 more Spartan races in January (sprint and super). I will complete those two along with a beast in 2018 to earn the trifecta.

We ran in and out of the bleachers in the stadium. In between, we climbed walls, threw medicine balls, jumped rope, carried sand bags, carried water jugs up steps, bear crawled, rope climbed, javelin threw, etc.

We stayed together as a team.

We celebrated at the end!

Tacos!

While I was in LA, Kailani's cheer team had a 4-hour choreography session.
