100 Years of Girl Scout Cookies
Today Kailani and I went to the cookie rally at the San Diego Zoo. The rally is to get the girls excited about cookie sales. Kailani got really excited and has set her goal at 1000 boxes. This year is special because it is the 100th anniversary off cookie sales in San Diego.

Restore the Shore
Today we participated in a beach clean up with the Padres Volunteer Team and I Love a Clean San Diego. We cleaned up the shoreline of Silver Strand Beach. It was a little cold and windy, but at least it wasn't raining. We are right in the middle of a week-long span of rain.
Tonight I attended the SDYFC banquet. This is a yearly event for all of the San Diego County football/cheer organizations. Awards are given to the coach and volunteer of the year for each organization. The county organization also gives an award to the president of the year and organization of the year. Otay Ranch Broncos were awarded the SDYFC organization of the year!

We had the best decorated table!
Lani loves her Animals
Unfortunately Kailani had a stomach bug this week. I stayed home with her on Thursday morning and Friday. She snuggled on the couch all day with Rebel. You can see Kona's ears popping up in the background.
Al of the animals love her!

Lani went on a field trip on Tuesday to the Chula Vista Elite Olympic Training Center (the ownership recently changed and now the city owns it). The teacher posted some photos of the CPR class they participated in.

The Art of the Brick
Today was a school holiday, so we decided to head to the science museum. There is a special Lego exhibit there through the end of the month. We all enjoyed looking at the Lego art.

USA Regionals
Today we were up bright and early to do hair and make up for Kailani's first cheer competition. The competition was at San Diego State University. All five teams did awesome! The two full-year (level 2) teams earned 1st place. One of the prep teams earned a Gold Ribbon. Kailani's prep team and the mini teams earned a Silver Ribbon. Prep teams earn ribbons based on the points they earn from the judges (gold: 90-100, silver: 80-89, bronze: 79 and under).
After each competition, the girls get a small bow (the parents purchase them) with their name and the date of the competition on it. The theme of each bow will be based on the competition. This time the bow was a flag because it was USA regionals.

Legoland Kids Mile
Today we participated in the Legoland kids run for the 10th year. I can't believe we've been doing this for so long (although I can't seem to find any pictures from 2009). It was rainy and cold this morning, but it warmed up a little by the time we started. We decided not to stay at Legoland today because we can't leave Rebel home alone for too many hours at a time. Plus, our passes expired on Dec 31. We'll have to renew those soon.

Rebel
Meet the newest member of our family...Rebel:)
We went to see him on Tuesday and we picked him up on Wednesday. His family was unable to keep him due to landlord restrictions. He is a purebred boxer and was born on November 7. He still has his tail, which is a little different for a boxer.
We had him to the vet already and he is a healthy little boy. I feel like we have a newborn again. I've been getting up 3-4 times throughout the night to let him out. He sleeps a lot, but also has a lot of energy. We are very happy to have him join our family. Holiday has done very well with him so far.
Kailani's cheer team had a dress rehearsal tonight for Sunday's competition. All five teams where there and they each ran through their routines about 3 times. It was really great seeing all of the teams in their uniforms performing. We are all excited about Sunday.
While we were at cheer, the boys were at Cub Scouts. Zachary earned a few more belt loops tonight. He also received his popcorn sale prizes.

Garage Sale
Today we had a garage sale to raise money for the Girl Scout trip to San Francisco in April. I had no idea, but you have to get a permit from the city in order to have a garage/yard sale. The city limits each house to two sales per calendar year.
It took a lot of prep to get everything ready for the sale because all of the girls' families donated items to sell. We even had friends who were willing to donate items to us to sell. Kevin and Kristin came over at 5:45am to help us set up. The sale was scheduled to start at 7am, but we had our first customers at 6:15am.
Although the parents did more work than the girls, they ended up making $650. There were a few big ticket/popular items that didn't sell that we held on to so we could try to sell in other ways. We also kept any clothing, shoes, and books that did not sell to donate to a specific charity organization. All of the housewares, toys, etc. that did not sell were dropped off at Goodwill. Once everything is sold, we'll probably have a little over $700.

Resolution Run
This morning Becky and I ran the Resolution Run 15K (9.3 miles). It was a nice run at Mission Bay. We are starting to train for our full marathon, but we haven't had much time to run. The longer races help keep us accountable, but we have to step it up!
This afternoon Kailani and I went to see the Culture Shock Nutcracker at Sprekles Theater downtown. It was a twist on the traditional Nutcracker ballet. All of the dances were hip hop. We enjoyed it and Kailani earned a patch for Girl Scouts.

Getting Things Done
Today we had a lot of errands to run. We sold a ton of the kids' Gymboree clothing to a children's resale store. The kids were excited because I split the money with them. For Christmas, Kailani's Girl Scout troop collected dog toys to donate. We stopped by the Humane Society to drop them off today. They were very grateful.
Zachary loves to cook! Here he is making breakfast for dinner!

New Year's
We started off the New Year by taking Holiday for a walk. The kids decided that we should make a resolution to get her out more. We took her to Mountain Hawk park. Although it was a little chilly, we enjoyed the view.
She was tuckered out!
I have decided that in order to achieve my goal this year of running a full marathon, I need to work on my strength. I am going back to Fit Miss! I missed the classes and I missed the girls. I am happy to be back!
