Pumpkin Rock

Today we explored a hike in Norco, CA. It was about a 1 1/2 hour drive from home, but well worth it.

Trying to get some Spartan training in!

Disney Cruise

After our Disney cruise last year, we knew we wanted to go on another one. We planned for Alaska in July 2019, but ended up booking another one when we found out a group of friends was doing one for Halloween. We had such a blast on the cruise with friends.

Day 1: This time we were prepared with our magnets and fish extender.

Day 2: Last time we did this cruise, we got off in Ensenada. This time we decided to stay on the ship.

 The whole group!

Day 3:

Our fish extender gift to all of the kids was a Lego cruise ship!

We've already booked another one! We have the 10-day Alaska cruise in July 2019 and the 5-day Cabo cruise in March 2020. We're hoping for a Christmas cruise in December 2020 as well.

Spartan Training

With the Spartan race coming up, we had to get in as much training as possible. Today the kids and I went to a Spartan training session that one of our trainers offers.

After Spartan training, we met up with some friends at Jump Around.

One of our friends has two boys who have sickle cell disease. She organized a 5K to generate awareness and raise money to donate to the organization.

El Capitan

Today we hiked El Capitan Mountain. It is probably the hardest hike in San Diego. It's 12 miles round trip and includes lots of steep inclines. We planned this hike to help prepare us for the Spartan Beast that is coming up soon. The view from the top was beautiful.

Unfortunately, none of us brought enough water. It was very hot, and I started to get dehydrated. Toward the end, I had to call for help because I couldn't make it any further. I felt like I was going to pass out. My friend Becky called 911, and they sent a helicopter out. I was very embarrassed because I felt that I did not need a helicopter rescue. Luckily, our other friends made it out first and were able to send the park ranger in to help. The ranger drove me and Becky the last 1.5 miles out. I was checked out by the EMTs and was fine.

On the way home from the hike, we stopped at Barona Casino for 75 cent gelato.

We finished the night off with Sangria/game night.
**Update: Since my incident at El Capitan, I've seen several doctors to try to find out why I had so much trouble with that hike. I'd been having chest pain, neck pain, head aches, and trouble breathing. None of the doctors could figure out what was going on. They checked my heart and lungs and everything was fine. They attributed the chest pain to a GI issue and the head ache and neck ache to stress.
I had never seen a chiropractor, but with all of the neck pain I was having, I decided to go. The chiropractor was the only one who could make sense out of all of the symptoms I was experiencing. A week before the El Capitan hike, I fell down the steps directly onto my side (of course my hands were full). The chiropractor said that I probably got whip lash from the fall. This is where the neck pain was coming from. Neck pain in certain areas also causes head aches. She also noticed that I had a few ribs out of place, which could have caused all of the chest pressure and the trouble breathing. She realigned my back and my neck, and I haven't had pain since! I have been seeing her on a regular basis now.
