This morning after our regular workout, we headed downtown to run up and down the convention center stairs. Whose crazy idea was this?!
The dogs love it here too!

Saying Good Bye to Another Rebelmom
Today we had a going away hike for Alejandra, who is moving to Florida with the Navy. Unfortunately, several of our Rebelmoms have moved away recently. Hopefully they will come back someday. In the meantime, we started planning for our NEW ORLEANS trip in September 2019. New Orleans is very close to where Alejandra will be living in Florida. We are very excited for our next Rebelmoms trip.

Balboa 3 Miler
Today we were planning to participate in the Balboa 3 Mile race. But....when we realized everyone else looked like professional runners and there was no medal, we made our own race. We ended up doing the "7 Bridges" urban hike/run. We had a lot of fun and ended up with 7 miles instead of 3.
We took a little detour for breakfast!

Girl Scout Sreenwriters
Today Kailani's Girl Scout troop attended a screenwriters badge workshop. They learned all about screenwriting from someone in the industry. All they have to do is write a 12-page script/screen play in order to complete the badge.
This evening, we celebrating another August birthday with a moonlight (full moon) hike at Torrey Pines. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes were really bad (not normal for San Diego), so we didn't spend as much time on the trail as we wanted to.

San Diego Book Festival
Last year, San Diego hosted a book festival. Lots of local authors attended, hosted round table sessions, and autographed books. The kids enjoyed it, so they wanted to attend again this year.
I signed up for a few round table sessions to hear the authors speak. The kids (and Jason) weren't too thrilled about those, so after the first one, they left to go have lunch. I attended another session and met a few more authors/illustrators. This type of event is right up my alley. I hope next year is even better.
Listening to Kadir Nelson speak. Kadir Nelson is a very well-known author/illustrator who has artwork at The National Baseball Hall of Fame and the US House of Representatives. He has also illustrated several covers of the New Yorker Magazine, an album cover for Michael Jackson (after his death), as well as postage stamps.
We finished the night off with a sunset hike to "Rock House" with the moms and kids. Kailani was the first one up the mountain!
