The Shout House

Tonight I was able to get out and spend a night with some friends. We went to the Shout House, which is a dueling piano bar downtown. We had a great time! We've decided we want to do this often.

Where's Waldo?

This morning we finished up the Where's Waldo scavenger hunt we started last week through Liberty Station. Zachary turned in the scavenger hunt form to the Yellow Book Road and got a sticker, a pin, and a raffle ticket for a prize drawing. There was a Where's Waldo party going on and Zachary got to participate in lots of different Waldo activities. He actually won a prize in the raffle drawing. He was excited to see Waldo and have his picture taken.
Today was Zachary's last day of soccer with the YMCA. He was having a hard time participating without me on the field with him, which is unusual. He did not go to soccer last week, so maybe that's why. After practice, the coaches presented the kids with a certificate and a medal. Zachary was so proud of his!

Beach Fun and Anthony's

Today Kailani and I spent the morning at the nail salon. It's not as fun for her anymore since she started cheer. She is not allowed to have her nails painted, so she only gets her toes done.
This afternoon we drove over the Coronado and spent some time at the beach. We ran into two of Kailani's friends from school. She had a great time playing with them. Afterwards, we headed downtown for dinner at Anthony's.

Watermelon Days

Today we had quite a busy day. We started off at the YMCA. Kailani started Saturday swim lessons today. She was sad about moving down one level, but excited to have the same instructor. She really likes swimming.
Then, we went to Lowe's for the Build and Grow clinic. The kids made the RC race car from Toy Story. It was a tough one to build, but the kids still had fun.
Then, we made a stop at Toys R Us to check out their free Lego event. The kids each got to make a bag full of Legos to build a small Chima set. We'll have to keep our eyes open for other events like this.
Our final stop was Oasis Camel Dairy Farm. It was the annual watermelon days event. They started off with a bird show and then ended with the kids feeding watermelon to the camels. The kids both fed the camels this year. There were a few babies too. What a fun day!

Looking for a Snack

The kids were looking for a snack and I couldn't resist snapping a quick picture!

Story Time at the Yellow Book Road

Today I took Zachary to story time at the Yellow Book Road. Author, Salina Yoon, presented her new book Penguin on Vacation. She gave out beach balls and sunglasses. It was a real beach party. Zachary picked out a book to be signed and we got one signed for Kailani. After the story time, we started the Where's Waldo activity they have going on. We had a list of businesses in the area to visit. Zachary had to find Waldo somewhere inside the store/restaurant. Once he found Waldo, the employee gave him a sticker. We didn't have time to finish the whole scavenger hunt, so hopefully we'll go back and do that before the end of the month. There is a Where's Waldo party on July 30. I wish Kailani could join us for all of the fun!

All Aboard for Some Remarkable Reptiles

Today we headed to the zoo for the monthly meetup. The theme was reptiles. We were able to see all of the turtles, tortoises, lizards, alligators, etc. Our meetup ended with a ride on the Balboa Park train. After that, we headed into the zoo to explore for a few hours.
