NOLA

Last year around this time, one of our good friends moved to Florida. Her husband is in the Navy, and it was time to transfer. During our "good bye hike," we promised that we would all come visit her. We stuck to our promise, and met her in New Orleans this week! Most of us had never been to New Orleans, so it was a lot of fun. We are already planning the next trip.

Day 1: We all arrived in time for dinner and a walk down Bourbon Street. We ended the evening with beignets at Cafe Du Monde.

Day 2: We had a nice lunch outside, did some sight-seeing at a few National Parks. We took a haunted tour, and hung out at the bars. We found a dueling piano bar!

Day 3: We did a haunted pub crawl. The "Dungeon" bar was a bit scary, but the carousel bar was neat.

Day 4: We got a foot massage, and said our good byes.

Brittany Runs a Marathon

Tonight we went to see the movie Brittany Runs a Marathon. It was a really inspiring story. Most of us know the hard work and dedication that goes into training for and running a marathon.

Zach's Class

Today I volunteered to help out with a project in Zach's class. The kids worked in groups to make traditional Native American houses for the different tribes. Zach's group did the Eastern Woodlands.

The room mom is always good about posting other pictures of the class throughout the year.

Sickle Cell 5K

Today, Kailani and I participated in a 5K to raise funds for sickle cell disease. My friend's two little boys have sickle cell disease, so she holds a small 5K in the community each year to raise money and awareness.

New House

We were super excited that we were able to close on our new house on August 30, almost a whole month before schedule. It is going to take us a while to get things set up, but we're working on it. We officially moved in on September 14.

WGU Seattle Commencement

I took a quick trip to Seattle this weekend to help out with the WGU Commencement. These are the things I love to travel for. The tips was super quick, so I didn't have much time to do anything else. Luckily we were just in Seattle in July.

The ceremony was at T-Mobile Park!

There was a reception at MoPOP, the Museum of Pop Culture the night before the ceremony.

Steel Bridge 10K

Becky and I still like to run a race at least once per month, so we decided to join the South Bay Trail Runners group for a free one. We started at the Steel Bridge in Rancho San Diego for a 3 mile out, and 3 mile back run. It was tough, but we enjoyed making some new friends.
