US Finals

Today was the US Finals cheer competition in Las Vegas. All of the teams who competed placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a qualifying competition earlier in the season. Our girls did great! They had the best performance of the season. Unfortunately, one of the girls turned her body a bit too much during one of the stunts, which made it a level 2 stunt. Since they are a level 1 team, and not allowed to do level 2 stunts, the team received a 1-point deduction. Fortunately, the performance was so good, that they were still able to take 2nd place overall, out of 8 teams. We are so proud of them!

 

The hotel we stayed at (SouthPoint) had a really nice pool. The kids got to spend some time swimming before we headed to Cracker Barrel for dinner.

7 Magic Mountains

Today we headed to Las Vegas for the US Finals cheer competition. On our drive in, we stopped at 7 Magic Mountains.

 

 

Hot Shots

Tonight was the last official cheer practice of the season. The girls really enjoyed being together this year, and will have one last opportunity to perform this weekend in Las Vegas. When we return from Las Vegas, this girls will try out and new teams will be formed. Fortunately, most of the girls are returning, but some are leaving. Everyone was in tears at the end of the practice.

After practice, we drove up to La Jolla Shores. Supposedly, after sunset, you could see a blue glow in the ocean from plankton that were in the water. We didn't see anything like the pictures on the news:(

Padres Game

Tonight was a regular Padres game. Zachary got the ball hit by Ellis (ground rule double).

Petco Park has a nice display of hats of our local high school teams.

Brianna's Believers

One of our friends has a daughter who has cystic fibrosis. May is cystic fibrosis awareness month, so she organized a hike on Sunday. We were unable to go on the hike because of our race, so we did our 7-mile run in Brianna's honor today.

Tacos n Beer

Today we celebrated Cinco de Mayo a day late with a taco n beer 5K at the embarcadero.

More Fun Stuff

We've had a lot more fun this month.
We tried Hooked on Crab, a new seafood place that opened up near us. The kids loved it!

We had dessert a Creamistry, a place that uses liquid nitrogen to make ice cream.

Kailani was able to save enough money for the American Girl doll of the year. Now she wants the NASA outfit!

The kids love making slime. Kailani made a slime bubble.

Zachary helped me put the license plate on the new car.

We started planning for our summer trip to the east coast.
