Yoga

This morning we tried out yoga for kids at the park. Although there were a lot of younger kids there, Kailani and Zachary had fun. Next time, the instructors are going to split the kids into two groups (older and younger).

After yoga, the kids wanted to play at the park for a little while. Mountain Hawk Park is one of my favorite parks because of the scenery.

Tonight my friend Amy hosted her first full moon yoga class at Bayfront Park. I'd never been there before. It is a beautiful location. I took Kailani along with me, for her second yoga class of the day.

Kailani has been doing a lot of conditioning during cheer. Here is a photo that was posted by one of the coaches this week. Kailani is in the orange shirt.

Art=Opportunity

Tonight the kids and I attended the final of three parent/child workshops at the Chula Vista District Office. The focus of the workshops were to share with families what the district is doing with arts integration. The district partners with an organization called Arts=opportunity, from University of CA San Marcos.
For this final class, we had to act out a story in 8 count sets to music. We acted out the book I Need my Monster. The kids got to bring the book home.

Rock n Rock Celebration

Tonight we went out to the Coasterra restaurant downtown to celebrate our Rock n Roll achievement. Some of the girls ran the full, some the half, and some were cheering us on in the crowd.

26.2

This weekend was a big weekend for me! On Saturday I ran the Rock n Roll 5K (3.1 miles). Becky and I stayed downtown that evening and went to dinner with some friends at the Spaghetti Factory.

Sunday morning we got up bright and early to run our very first MARATHON (26.2 miles). I felt good the first 21 miles. I did have to stop at mile 16 to stretch, but I surprised myself at how long I was able to run without stopping. I hit a wall at mile 22 because there was a HUGE hill (2.5 miles long). The road was slanted, which made it even more difficult, so I had to walk up and then down the hill. It hurt my time a little, but I wasn't really going for a particular time. At the bottom of the hill, I picked up my running again and crossed the finish line at 5 hours and 58 minutes.

 At the start line...

20 mile marker...

My friend Leilani captured my finish!

At the finish line, I picked up my medal and my #stupidjacket! I got a 3rd medal (remix) for running on both days. At this point, I can't say that I will do another full marathon...maybe only a Disney one... I am glad I am able to check this off my list!

I wore these beads for my run. One of the beads will be sent to a child with a serious illness to help him/her through a major surgery, difficult procedure, or long hospital stay.

 My unofficial time..

We had to take a pedicab back to the hotel...

Kailani's cheer banquet was at 3pm, so it was a rush to get there.
Looking pretty good for just finishing a marathon!

Clebrating

Today Zachary's class had a party to celebrate the end of the school year. Since I am already finished working for the year, I went to help.

Tonight, I went to the New Kids on the Block concert with some Fit Miss friends. I never did get to see them in concert when I was younger. Boys II Men and Paula Abdul were also part of the concert.
We rode in style in a hummer limo...
