Coronado Valentine's Day 10K

Today Becky and I ran the Coronado Valentine's 10K. The race route was beautiful; along the water. I was ready to push myself to try for a PR (personal record) of less than 60 minutes. I've been wanting to reach that goal for a while now. Unfortunately, I did not finish in under 60 minutes, but I did finish is 1:02:22 (which beat my fastest 10K by 2 seconds).

To celebrate Valentine's Day with the kids today, after church we went out lunch at Stacked and treated the kids to a Lego set of their choice!

Mermaids

Today Kailani and I ran the Mermaid 5K. Kailani always wants to do races with me and I figured this one was a good one for her. We met up with Becky there. Her daughter Sadie ran the mini mermaid race, which was her first race.

After the run, we headed home to get ready for a cookie booth sale. We ended up doing 2 in a row (4 hours). Kailani has sold 138 boxes. Her goal is 250. She has 2-3 more booth sales, so hopefully she will be able to meet her goal.

We have a Bobcat

Today was Jump Rope for Heart at school. I was lucky enough to be at the kids' school today, so I was able to participate in the event. Although I was responsible for a 3rd grade class, I was able to walk around and take a few quick pictures.

It's official...Zachary earned his Bobcat tonight. He wanted me to be up in front with him, so Kailani recorded the special ceremony (unfortunately, the file is too large to upload). Zachary also earned his cyber chip tonight to show that he understands what is safe/not safe on the Internet.
He started working on his Tiger requirements and will hopefully earn his Tiger by the end of the school year.

Last Sunday was Scout Sunday. We planned on attending a special ceremony at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with the rest of our pack; however, there was some confusion over the time of the event and we missed it (we were actually way too early). Zachary met with Pastor Russ (from our church) yesterday to talk about the part of the Cub Scout Law that states, "A scout is reverent." Hopefully this will take the place of the event on Sunday and he will earn the Scout Sunday patch as well.

SS Monte Carlo

This morning Kailani had another cookie booth. The booth was at MCAS Miramar. She did pretty well: 62 boxes and 3 Operation Thin Mint. There were 2 other girls with her, so they have split the total 3 ways. So far she's sold 90 boxes all together.
This afternoon, we decided to walk around Coronado for a while. The SS Monte Carlo is a gambling ship that sunk on New Year's Day 1937. With the El Nino weather we've been having, the ship is exposed. We had to go take a look.

Father Daughter Dance

Today was National Wear Red Day, so of course we all sported red shirts to school today. I got a special American Heart Association shirt through the school district to wear to work.
Kailani and Kaia had their first booth sale today (that's Layla peaking her head out in the middle). It was the first day of booth sales, so we were expecting to do well; however, the booth was at Walgreen's, which was not the best location. The girls sold about 50 boxes.
Tonight was the father daughter dance at school. It was an Under the Sea theme. The mom who planned and organized the dance did an awesome job. Zachary an I walked Jason and Kailani to the school and then we got stuck helping out. We ended up spending the entire night there. Naturally I had to take some pictures!

Lego Mini Build

Every month the Lego Store hosts a free mini build for kids. We have never tried to go because it's on a week day and it's for ages 6 and up. Since football/cheer is over and we have a little more time on our hands, we decided to check it out. Jason had duty/watch so it was just us. They just started a new system where you have to sign up online and only VIP members can attend. We went tonight and the kids made a snow mobile. Kailani had hers built in 2 minutes. Zachary took a little longer, but was able to do it himself.
The kids each picked out a few mini figures from series 15. They are trying to collect them all.

More Storms

We had another round of storms this weekend. The wind was crazy...up to 60 miles per hour. We got to school this morning to find that several trees had been blown over.
