Wreaths Across America

Today we participated in the annual Wreaths Across America event with Kailani's Brownie troop. People all over the country gather at local cemeteries to lay wreaths at the grave sites of those buried there. We went to the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery to participate in their ceremony and wreath laying event. Facebook was filled with friends who participated in ceremonies across the US.
Unfortunately a huge rainstorm was just coming to an end this morning. It was cold and rainy for the start of the day, but cleared up nicely for laying the wreaths.

Feliz Navidad

Today Jason and I ran around to finish up the Christmas shopping while the kids hung out at the YMCA. The kids at the YMCA were performing in a winter wonderland event that evening, so we kept them at the YMCA until show time. There were five schools' YMCA before/after school groups who participated in the event. Each school sang a song on stage. At the very end, all of the kids sang Feliz Navidad. There were different activities for the kids to participate in as well: decorating a stocking, decorating an ornament, writing a letter to Santa, etc. The kids and parents had a great time.

Old Town Field Trip

Today I went on Kailani's class field trip to Old Town as a chaperone. The kids went to Old Town in 1st grade and remembered some of the things they did then. The focus of this field trip was different, so they learned new things. They really enjoyed playing together in the open area after lunch.

War

Kailani and Zachary have been into playing games lately. Today, it was war. Kailani got really excited when we had a "double war."

It's Starting to Look A lot Like Christmas

This time of year there are so many great things to do in San Diego. We started off at the USO Santa Store at the Harley Davidson Store. Every year, the USO puts on an event where kids can see Santa and pick out presents for their parents. They provided a BBQ lunch. We've gone every year since Kailani was 4 (only kids ages 4-10 can participate).
This evening, we went to a brand new event at Petco Park called Holiday Wonderland. The event looked awesome; sledding, snow, Santa, Polar Express train, reindeer, etc. Everyone else must have though the same thing. The event was packed. We didn't even stand in line to do anything. We only stayed to look around for a while. All of the lights and decorations were amazing.

Cheer Banquet

Tonight was Kailani's cheer banquet. We were very happy that Jason got out of work early (he's working nights now) and was able to make it there for the presentation of the trophies.
The banquet was at Jump Around, which is an indoor trampoline park. The kids had a great time jumping. We ate pizza and cupcakes and then gave out the gifts. What a great season!!

Caroling at Village Walk

Tonight we went caroling with the Brownie troop in the Village Walk shopping center. They book groups to carol every night in December and donate $100 to your group. There was a snowfall at 6pm. After that, we sang a song in each store in the shopping center. When we made our way back to the start, there was another snowfall. It was wet from raining the past few days, but luckily the rain held off during the caroling.
